Ok so it's been a while since I updated my journal. To be honest... I completely forgot about it!!
So here's what's been happening with me...
Sleep...or lack of I should say. I'm not sleeping at the moment. Here's my nighttime routine.I manage to drift off into the wonderful land of dreams (no dreams in my case) around 3am, followed by about 4 occasions when I wake up for no apparent reason. Sounds fun doesn't it. I'm back on melatonin (9mg a night!!) but it's not working! I've been to my doctor and she just got me to fill out a mood questionnaire and come back after two weeks. So I went back, she took a quick glance at the questionnaire and told me that I should come back in the new year...!!! Gee, thanks for the help doc! >:(
Some terrible news in the family. My auntie gave birth to her 5th child (Adam) on Saturday but he stopped breathing during the night. The hospital (Kettering Genreal) where absolutely crap. The had put him in an incubator to bring his tempurature up but had then just left him. My auntie had had a C-section so she couldn't move. She was really worried about the baby so she asked her partner to check on the baby and he discovered that he wasn't breathing. Nobody knows how long he had stopped breathing for so there is a possibility of brain damage. He's been transferred to a specialist hospital and is currently on a ventilator as he is unable to breathe for himself. They've diagnosed him with Persistent Pulmonary Hypertension. I'll try and explain what that means.
In the womb, the pathway of a baby's blood circulation is different than it is after birth. In the uterus, a baby's circulation bypasses the lungs because the placenta supllies the baby with oxygen through the umbilical cord. Normally, when a baby is born and begins to breathe air, his circulatory system quickly adapts to the outside world. But in babies with PPHN that doesn't happen. So even thought the baby is breathing air, the oxygen doesn't reach the bloodstream.
To top it off Kettering General then gave the new hospital the wrong birth weight so Adam was given the incorrect dosage of medication!
I'm absolutely furious and very upset. :(
I went to a Maroon 5 gig at Wemberly last week but I don't really feel like chatting about that right now. :(
