Differences Between Loving And Fearing God
January 19, 2006

SEATTLE - God-fearin' Christians.
God-lovin' Christians.
I see a difference.
I see God-fearin' Christians as the ones with the shrill political voice.
They frantically thumb through their Bible for appropriate passages to validate their belief that, not only do they alone hold the key to heaven, but they also get to single out which races, cultures, religions and individuals should be subjected to spiritual judgment, social ridicule and legal discrimination.
The Reverend Ken Hutcherson is the loudest shrill voice we've been hearing locally of late.
On a self-appointed mission from God, Hutch has hitched his wagon to a vicious anti-homosexual agenda.
He blathers on about boycotting companies that support anti-discrimination laws for gays and lesbians, believing that he is God's personal instrument of punishment.
God-lovin' Christians?
I see them as the ones who understand that dignity and respect are everyone's due.
They hold their Bible as a guide, not a weapon.
They accept that their place in heaven is not secured by creating hell on Earth for those that others judge unworthy.
God-fearin' Christians.
God-lovin' Christians.
To me, the difference is painfully obvious.
