[memory theater]
[The video is hazy, but shows the fine details of the Shinigami Academy in Seireitei. An area that resembles an archery field is populated by students in robes of red and blue, designated by gender. Every so often, someone casts a fireball at the targets on the other side of the field, all of them taking turns as time passes.
Momo just happens to be one of the few that manages to hit the target, but only barely. She modestly brushes off the subject, happily sitting down as she nonchalantly shakes her head as she exchanges a few word with a friend, "Just luck, just luck!" And then there's a crashing sound interrupts their conversation, of a target clearly being blown off, courtesy of a man with short, blonde hair. And then, Momo sits, staring at him in awe. "Ah," she starts, "It hit the center of the target."
A few more people take their turn, each hitting or missing the target, according to their own skill level. And finally from the sidelines, the instructor calls for the last group to test their kidou abilities.
She remembers watching carefully and all of a sudden, being taken by surprise by an explosion just moments after the group begins, and being overwhelmed by black smoke and ash. "W-what was that?"
When the ashes clear, she sees. She sees a redhaired male, standing still with smoke rising from his body; caught up in the moment of surprise, perhaps, and maybe even dealing with the loss of his dignity.
Momo feels bad, but she also remembers holding back a soft laugh at the sight of a burnt up Renji. Oops.]
