I <3 Pandora, sloth, productivity

Pandora.com that is. You can make a station based on a group you like, and it picks similar things and plays them. I made an Afro Celt station and have been listening to it while I cleaned.

Yesterday I had a bit of slothy day..started reading a really fluffy book and got sucked in for a good part of the day. It seems like forever since I've done that, especially with a fluffy book. I did run out to Kmart for a few things but mostly chilled.

Incidently..Kmart is really quite a depressing store. I really ought to go to Target when I need that kind of store. Its even a tiny bit creepy. There are so few people working there, or for that matter shopping, its a bit of a ghost town. Every once in a while I'll get caught up in shopping and look up and see so few people I wonder if somehow they closed and I didn't notice. Its that deserted.
I did have a good find though..flannel jammie pants for $4 each. I love them in the winter especially after a few washings, I haven't bought any in quite some time and most of mine were dead. These were very soft, and nice dark plaids..no fuzzy puppys or purple unicorns or hearts thank you. ..though the pirate ones were tempting (but not on sale) and I wouldn't mind some monkeys. Monkeys monkeys I love a monkey.

Today I finished the book, then had a very productive afternoon. Boxes and piles had taken over my small kitchen, but now one huge stack is gone. POOF. Got a bunch of stuff in the car to give away, and pawned off other stuff on a friend who stopped by for a bit after gaming.

One of the things I went through was my old cassettes. Finally managed to toss a bunch of them. I realized even though I still have the technology I just never listen to them anymore. There are a few I want to move to mp3, but not many.

It's been hard to part with them though... I used to be really into the new-wave proto-goth sorta stuff back in the day, and had a ton of cassettes I'd taped off a couple friends with cool taste. I have fond memories of that time period, and especially the music, and was rather attached, but now I finally ditched most of them. Really, how good will the sound quality on nearly 20+- year old second generation tapes be anyhow? Hmm. Zowie... I wonder if some day these will be like wax cylinders are now.

Incidently one of the coolest things at the con last weekend was a really old record player just kind of randomly set up in the hallway. Old enough it had to be wound up, I love that stuff! The sound quality sucked of course, but it was just kinda neat that it worked at all. One of them was a tango and I ended up in a pseudo-tango in the hallway. Woo. Someday I really want to take some kind of ballroom dance.
The records were neat..old thick 78s. My mom has some I think are even older..super thick with recording only on one side, and some are 16s even.
