author's note: remember that story i said i would write about Panaetha and Candeo? here you go.
Panaetha was a bit unusual for a catrider. She had black hair that shined gold in the sun. Her skin was a very dark grey, almost black, but she was gently spotted with leopard spots on her wrists and hands, around her ankles and fading up her legs, at her neck and across her shoulders, and in various other places. While that was normal, she had no tail and was very tall, but she had to get something from the Glider in her blood. She blended in very well with shadows, and it was a shame that she wasn't a very good hunter. Her most striking features were her eyes, which glowed a bright gold. Panaetha looked like a Glider, but when an elf looked into her eyes, they could see that she was a cat deep down.
Candeo was your basic tiger-elf, but a little rarer than most. He was of the white tiger persuasion, his skin was white, with black stripes. His ears had little black tufts of fur, and he had a tail that swished idly as he walked. His eyes were set with bright sapphires, and his hair was pitch black, with a gentle hint of blue. He was loud and playful, very cat-like, while Panaetha was very quiet, so when Candeo started to persue Panaetha, the tribe was surprised.
Candeo spent his days lazing in a tree like the tiger he was. He loved to swim, but mostly, he loved to watch Panaetha. Over 300 turns old, Candeo had had many lovemates, but Panaetha struck him like no other cat had. Her dark skin entranced him, and while he made his share of noises watching her, Panaetha never suspected it was him. However, after so long, she had her ideas, and once some elves pointed out how much Candeo liked her, she knew he had been following her. This time, before she undressed to bathe, he was given away by his tail, dangling and swinging slowly from a tree.
"You smell like a cat who hasn't bathed for days," she said, surprising Candeo with her bluntness.
His blue eyes glowed from behind the leaves. "I haven't had the time."
"So watching me is your number one priority? You will not win me by smelling like that."
Candeo's eyes danced. "How did you know?"
"Had you been more observant, you wouldn't have shown off your feelings like new leathers, and perhaps you would have been a little quieter following me. I may not hear as well as a full-blooded cat-rider, but I do have ears."
Candeo swung out of the tree, and Panaetha inched back a little, even though the water hole separated them. "Scared of me?" Candeo asked playfully. Panaetha glared and stood for a minute, then huffed and walked away. Her panther followed, glaring and growling at the tiger-elf. Candeo's tiger-bond walked out of the shadows and grinned at him in the way only a tiger can. Candeo playfully smacked him and laughed. "Don't look at me like that, it was your tail dangling!"
