apparently, heat-trapping gases are filling the atmosphere creating incountable risks to humanity as a whole. we have been filling up our air with pollutous gases ever since the industrial revolution and the output increases each year ( Read more... )

you want to here true crazzyness!! (I know you do, so I'm just going to jump right into it rather than wait for a responce)
as we all know from our crazy earth science ness that the earth goes through spells of warmth and cold (more than just winter) adn the cold spells are ice ages and the warm spells are when the ice is suppose to melt, however because of global warming we're not in an ice age. yes, we're supposed to be in an ice age right now; now the true question is this...since we're in a cold spell and the polar ice caps are melting = tons of extra water being dumped into the ocean, what will happen when the earth's temperature rises to melt the ice that should be covering our globe..the ice that's not there? will the polar ice caps cease to exist because with the pollution and the heat and stress we're putting on the polar ice caps along with the added warmth from some ciclical change ness will the polar ice caps completely dissappear?
also, what of all this water?
I feel like mrs. kelley (my earth science teacher) said that at the end of it NYC will be under a few feet of water..but i'm not sure if she said that or if I read it somewhere....everytihng kind of just meshes into itself after a while
=P
now, I'll leave you on that happy note

i don't believe humans will outlive the next "warm spell"
especially if everything is already way warmer than usual.
since the ice caps are melting:
-the ocean will be filled with more water to increase the level and flood huge areas
-the enviornment will be more friendly to disease-carrying insects, being warm and wet
-the salty water will invade our fresh water sources for drinking and bathing
-the dilution of the salt water will stop the currents in the Gulf and other bodies of water
-the coral reefs will die off because they cannot survive in warm water

happy end of the world as we know it.

bleh, how true.
it's funny, how we can all close our eyes to our bleak futures as a human race, and still have beautiful paintings, people, flowers, and just life. occasionally you want to just roll over and it's just ugh, but other days you can't help be over come by the beauty around us.
now, this beauty can be both a driving force, as we want to preserve it, however, I know for me, it would just distract me.
haha
