the grandparents are really cool to hang out with. anyway they were the first night. we talked mainly about medical and other issues for the beginning of the visit, but finally got into the nitty-gritty things like politics, religion, and how they shouldn't be mixed except by qualified professionals.
at this moment i'm in the barnes & noble in huntsville, having been sent here to find a book that apparently doesn't exist, so i'm waiting for my boss to call me back to let me know what the book is actually called. luckily i paid for the "boingo" service in the airport in san diego, so i have internet access pretty much everywhere they have wi-fi. which is nice.
san diego should turn out to be pretty fascinating, in the long run. anyway i like the strip clubs better in san diego than most other places i've been, except that they open far too late (6 pm!!), and some of the girls will still try to hustle you. but that's what they're for, i guess. you're there to see naked girls, and the naked girls are there to make a living, either paying for college or feeding their kids, or feeding their drug habits, or some combination of the three. ventually they need to legalize prostitution, but i think the strippers would actually take a big hit on that, 'cause they'd have to start living up to the insinuations that make them so much money. we'll see how it goes.
or we won't. either way.
so one of my teachers in monterey told me i should seriously consider law school. seriously as in he's in law school right now and he thinks i'm more suited to the type of study than most of the other people in his class. i'm not really sure what to do with that, maybe nothing, maybe something. we'll see how that goes.
i went to visit the aunt and uncle in LA on my way down to san diego, which entailed the necessary conversations about whether i intend to stay in the military, and if so, do i plan on going through some kind of commissioning program? at this point, the answer is still no, but the "you should be a lawyer" bug is now conspiring with the "you should be an officer" bug. i think the "you should get out of the military and smoke pot all day" bug is pretty much dead.
anyway i'll write more later when there are fewer GODDAMN CELL PHONES ringing in the immediate vicinity. i've heard "big pimpin" twice in the last three minutes. that's more than enough for me.
