So... after 3 years of not writing fic, I tripped and fell into a new fandom and got super inspired this year. Hahaha

I so agree with you about fests - they can be fun, but they're rarely where I end up doing my best. But remix is always worth it :D

Remix is the BEST. Something about the whole exercise -- looking at a fic and twisting it around, trying to do it in a different way -- it always teaches me something important about writing. Which is weird, because you'd THINK that would be exactly what I do every time I write fanfic, (in relation to canon) but apparently not.

Writing in X-Men mostly these days, although what I'm /really/ trying to do is spend most of my time on original fic... Fandom is so seductive, though! I adore remixing, there's something so satisfying about it - like puzzle pieces clicking into place when you feel like you've gotten it right. (My remixee wasn't thrilled with my fic, either, by changing the pov I seemed to have hit all of her squicks, but hey, I still liked it! ^_^)

One of the great things about Remix is how it's not actually a GIFT exchange. That makes it easier to say, too bad you didn't like the fic but I thought it was awesome, so there! I seem to have more trouble maintaining that attitude in other tests, haha.
