That night, the sun was settling down in a prompt sort of way, and the clouds were being too opaque for its last beams to pierce their consistency. It drew dark patterns over the town, brought back to the city lights their mislaid brightness, and dipped the town into the heavy heat of mid-June at night. As a matter of fact, the surrounding air was painfully afflicting Aiba's lungs as he purposefully waved his hand to fan his face and to dry the sweat. The moment they passed the zebra crossing, the purring sounds of the cars - which were kept waiting by the stop light - were soon joined by swear words, repetitive toots and loud music. And the combination was unpleasant enough to make Nino wince twice. Jun was first to reach the opposite sidewalk, and lazily began to walk down the road. His eyes reflected the vivid yet constant neons displayed in a background full of hurried people, until his attention focused on some Shibuyan girls’ gazes he didn't quite know the name of. Still, it was a matter of seconds before he quickly winks at the blinding lights the stores were diffusing from their window. Ohno was last, when he smelled the scent of steaming noodles as they passed by a ramen restaurant, but Sho had to pick Ohno up or he knew it would only be the four of them making it home safely. Much to his own dismay, there was no moon in the sky to clear their path home, Sho realized as they had reached a narrow street, and it was a good pretext for Aiba to use when he involuntary bumped into Nino, making the latter hit his head back. He hid his chewing gum beneath his teeth as he grinned at the scene, and he wondered whether or not the mint flavor of it would invade his taste buds longer this time. The alley eventually led them far from the busy streets and to a quiet apartment they could go back to, and a home they could claim as theirs.

"Jun, open the door," moaned Aiba.

"I can't," Jun ascertained. "I gave Sho my keys so he could come back home during lunchtime because he had forgotten his lunch here."

"But I didn't expect Aiba to be there at first," Sho justified himself, "so I ended up not taking them at all because he had to leave the house after me."

"Hey Nino, give me your keys already!" cried Aiba and as he did, everyone knew he was as hopeless as they were.

"You idiot, you were using mines because you dropped yours in a sewer and because you know I usually come home late!"

"But Leader was home when I left!"

Everyone gazed at Ohno. Ohno was smiling back.

"Shit."
