Halloween and Heroes

Nov 01, 2007 17:07

I hope those of you who celebrate it had a good Halloween yesterday! I dressed up as teenage Hufflepuff student Tonks, which was fun, and I dyed my hair pink for that ^.^ I'll post pictures of that later on. I'm slightly ticked off because my dad, who has listened to all the Harry Potter books on tape and claims to be a fan, didn't remember who Tonks was. Of course, he often times forgets who Lupin is also - and I mean really, how can you forget who Lupin is? *sigh* oh well.

I'm late on posting about my thoughts on this week's Heroes, but here goes anyway.

Claire disappointed me this week, following West's idea of tormenting the head cheerleader, Debbie. While Debbie isn't nice, it just seemed petty of Claire to agree to that. Not to mention it worries me that she seems to just go along with whatever West suggests. First with the lying to her family - multiple times, and now with this. Makes me wonder what else he might suggest. He is certainly a bad influence. I was glad though when Claire started to stand up for herself saying that she had to listen to her parents -but then of course that changed a second later. Does West even HAVE parents?

For those of you who read the graphic novels, wasn't the guy who Mr. Bennet went to interrogate, the guy who was featured in the graphic novels as Claude's former partner? Anyhow, loved the time out in the interrogation to talk to Claire on the cell phone XD I'm sure that Claire knows Mr. Bennet was not at some management training thing. I wonder if she will have any contact with the Haitian again, or if she knows her dad still does. Probably not. It was really sad though, Mr. Bennet having to kill the guy. Seems like Mr. Bennet feels certain that he is doomed and cannot redeem himself. I really hope that he doesn't get killed. Speaking of which, why was there a second copy of the painting of his death in the warehouse in the Ukraine? And am I the only one who was bothered by the painting of Mohinder with a smoking gun being the 7th painting in the series of 8? The one right before Mr. Bennet's death? It makes me worried that Mohinder is going to shoot him... and I really don't want that to happen.

Just as a side note, why didn't the Bennets take more care in hiding their identities? I mean, they moved, cut ties to the people they knew (mostly), and changed their last name. That's a good start, but why not change their first names as well? Particularly Claire's? And how about dying their hair? (I think Mr. Bennet may have done this...) Or for Mr. Bennet, getting new non-horn rimmed glasses? He had different glasses in the future when they were in hiding - Claire had a different first name and hair color then too. I just think that taking some extra steps would have been really helpful in their staying hidden.

Moving on, I was so proud of Mohinder, sticking to his morals and not giving Monica the injection! It reminded me of the bit from last season where future Mohinder is asked to give some sort of lethal injection to Hiro and instead he gives it to the Haitian. Except of course, he didn't give this injection to anyone. And then Mohinder destroying the rest of the vials was awesome too. Go Mohinder! I don't buy that Bob was actually turning over a new leaf or whatever, when he was apologizing to Mohinder. That just seemed really off. And I was shocked that Bob let Monica go AND gave her all those gifts and support? What's up with that? It's like he was encouraging her to become a superhero? I hope that she tells Micah about all this, as I'm interested to know what he'll make of it.

Also, that was absolutely not Nicki who was assigned to Mohinder as a partner. I don't think that Mohinder thing's that it's Nicki either. I'm betting that The Company did something that either cured Jessica of Nicki, or subdued Nicki so that Jessica could remain in control. This is just not good.

I like Caitlin, and I really don't understand why people keep on comparing her to Simone. Other than her attachment to Peter, I honestly see no similarities. Caitlin is so much stronger than Simone, and braver. She isn't a two-timer, she doesn't doubt Peter's abilities, and she wants to get revenge! While, as I've said before, I like Peter/Claire best as far as ships go for Peter, but as that's never going to happen, I support Peter/Caitlin. What's up with Adam Monroe though? And that strange apartment that Peter and Caitlin went to? Could Adam be Kensei?

I had been wondering about when Peter would use Hiro's power! Over the weekend G4 had a marathon of season one, and I was trying to figure out what emotions Peter evokes when he uses the different powers (since we know now that he doesn't need to think of the person who he absorbed them from in order to use them). I'm not sure what exactly the feeling was when he teleported. But that should be interesting, seeing what this evacuation is all about. I'm guessing it has to do with the plague and the virus.

Hiro messed up! He should not have kissed Yaeko! I'm so worried about what's going to happen to him. I don't think that Kensei was ever a good guy though, I feel like he just wanted to be powerful and famous. Damn. It was amusing though at how into the story in the letters the scientist/archivist guy is now. Poor Ando freaking out when the letters abruptly ended! :( I want Hiro to come home already!

Maya so has a crush on Sylar now, and I have to admit that I think she could have a good influence on him, that she will have a good influence on him. I think that although right now Sylar's plan is apparently to kill her and Alejandro and take their powers - once he gets his power back - OR to train her as his protégé of sorts, I think he's going to wind up caring about her more than he expects. I don't think he and Alejandro will ever get along though. And I'm betting that Alejandro understood at least some of the things Sylar told him. He'll probably tell Maya, but I'm sure Maya will not believe that Sylar actually said those things. She'll probably just think that Alejandro was jealous (not in a romantic way of course) and made them up.

On another note, thinking about older episodes, I'm wondering if perhaps Matt's dad is the one who killed Arthur Petrelli. If Matt's dad is the one who has been going after other members of The 12, then perhaps he started with Mr. Petrelli. Matt's dad's powers to induce nightmares could likely cause someone to have a heart attack - or to kill themselves. What do you guys think?
