Resolutions

Man, my posting rate has dropped through the floor. Probably just as well I haven't gotten the new blog off the ground yet.

It's New Year's though (give or take), which means it's probably a good time for a summary of sorts. I started one of those, but I don't think I want to post it. 2006 was by turns sad and awesome, fun and boring, disappointing and rewarding. On the whole, though, I feel pretty good about it. I don't want to jinx it with excessive introspection.

So let's move on to looking to the future. Resolutions. Actually, I wanna call these "goals." Or possibly "projects." Goals are pretty nebulous. Projects are more concrete. This list is a mix of both. I like those better than "resolutions." I'm don't have a really clear idea what that means. I mean, there's the idea of "resolve," but to me "resolution" has more to do with pixels than anything else. Nomenclature is important here. Sure you can make a list and have good intentions, but if you actually want to get things done, you need to have some confidence in your own ability in getting there.

The point is to figure out where I'm getting into a rut and where I'm procrastinating (two things I'm very good at), and finding a way to make some progress towards Major Life Goals. Yes, with capital letters. I should probably just shut up already and start listing things.

...

Okay, I've realized that I've actually got a lot of things I want to start listing. So maybe I'll break it up into categories:
  • House stuff: Lots to do and lots I've been putting off.
  • Health and Fitness: which probably will break down further into Diet and Excercise
  • Personal/Social: Don't know if I'll actually post since... you know... personal. I've been working hard trying to figure out social/relationship stuff the last few years, but right now it's coming down to things like "learn to give a better massage." 9_9
  • Financial stuff: Not that I'm suffering, but I think my future self would thank me if I started getting organized.
  • Work stuff: Don't really like to talk about it here for various reasons, but I should make a list of some sort for myself.

That will probably do for this year.

blog, self-improvement, new year's
