Bullets.

  • Well, we're done the first week and I haven't actually written anything for NaNoWriMo. I think this probably means I'm out. I don't foresee me having a lot of time this coming week either. I did stare at a blank screen for a half-hour last Wednesday, which kind of counts as writing, but it doesn't do much for your wordcount.
  • I went out and got Black & White 2 on Saturday. Another reason why there won't be much writing done. It's a lot less obtuse than the first one. I haven't figured out a way to capture actual territory as a "good" god, though. You "capture" other cities by making your city so cool that everyone wants to come live with you. Which is neat, but it doesn't do much to expand your borders. (One of my favourite strategies (if you can call it that) in the old game was to get my radius of influence right up to the other guy's and then chuck rocks at them. It didn't do much, but it was fun). It would be neat if you could send out settlers to go live in those empty cities...
  • I got a raise today! Woo!
  • My car's CD player sucks. I was contemplating in-car PCs today, and managed to stumble across a car stereo system that's nearly everything I'm looking for instead. (OGG/Vorbis would be very nice. That way I don't have to re-encode everything). Trouble is, Amazon won't ship outside the UK. Hm.
  • Thanks to harempresident, my backyard is nicely raked now. I'd kinda like to get a lawn mower and mulch what's left, but I'm having trouble finding one.
  • Work's getting mildly stressful again, but I'm trying to ignore it. That's probably not the best strategy.
  • Oh! Now and Then books is having a sale on translated manga. 75% off! Their selection's a bit weird, but for $3-5/volume, it's not too hard to find something worth reading. I cleaned out their Berserk and Kindaichi (the ones I didn't already have, anyway. I also got some graphic novels, but they're not on sale anymore.

Also, Fark makes me happy sometimes (in a depressing sort of way)...
