I was thinking that, but then the wonderful tansu told me that it'll just be for testing, as the technical regs say he'll need to have Raikkonen on the side of the car for the season. So now we know!
The regulations say that the driver's surname must be on the rear side window.
19. DRIVER’S AND CO-DRIVER’S NAMES 19.1 REAR SIDE WINDOWS The driver’s surname only, together with the national flag of his/her passport nationality, must appear on the rear side window on both sides of the car, adjacent to the competition number. The driver’s surname must be: - In Helvetica: upper case for the first letter of the name and the remainder in lower case. - In white on a clear background. - 10 cm high and with a stroke width of 1.5 cm. In case of glass breakage, a penalty for not carrying the driver’s name will not be applied. 19.2 FRONT WINGS In addition to Article 19.1, the names of the driver and co-driver, together with the national flags of their respective passport nationalities, must appear on the front wings of the car.
As far as length goes, there are longer names in rallying than Raikkonen! I'm thinking immediately of Toni Gardemeister, for one.
Phew! Thanks for clearing that up - I was sure they had to have surnames so this had started to make me doubt myself. And I'd been thinking that surely people had longer names than Raikkonen, so they must have something in place to compensate for it.
