Sunshine and blisters

May 31, 2009 20:02

I have a love/hate with hot weather.  I love it because it makes me want to go and do things, like go for walks, and do laundry, and play the piano.  I hate it because it makes my head ache.  And it makes me do everything slowly.  So you kind of get the feel for how my weekend went.  I've got the headache now.  I'm going to go and take stuff for it now.

I had a revelation on Saturday - given that I can't take codeine as it gives me headaches, but still need to kill period pain which ibuprofen doesn't touch, so I experimented with Feminax Ultra as it has Naproxen and not codeine.  Rather effective.  Thank god.

I don't want to go to work tomorrow - I feel so shattered, and I've not thought about my stuff yet, and I really ought to have done.  Bugger.

Weekend at home was nice though.  Went to the pub on Friday night, and then into Stroud for Jamie's DJing at Nine.  Played the piano a lot - I got the piano book for Carol King's Tapestry, which I love, and it's such a nice set of pieces to play.  It's such a relief to play things with only one or two sharps, and not play more than two notes at the same time with each hand.  And no octave stretches!  Suck on that, Beethoven.  (That was harsh, sorry Beethoven.  I love the Moonlight Sonata, I really do, but my wrists really don't.)  Also it was hot.  And we washed cars, which trashed my feet.  So did my sandals.  My sister is moving back into Mum and Dad's, and it's hell.  She's bringing everytthing back though, more than when she left.  So they're filling the summer house with her sofas and bed and things.  And then she's moving into the spare room.  Good luck.

Minor panic for Silverstone (3 weeks - EEK!!) is that only Jamie and I are going to be able to go down on Thursday.  And I really want to go down on Thursday as there's stuff I want to watch on Friday.  Like GP2 practice and quali, as I'm feeling rather GP2 deprived so far this season.  (How am I supposed to know if di Grassi is capable of beating Grosjean if I can't watch it, huh?)  But then it sort of means that Jamie and I need to stay at the tents so that the others can find us when they show up.  I'll have to sort it.

Just watching Later from Friday night - the Hypnotic Brass Ensemble are brilliant.  They should be allowed to play more songs.  Want. To. See.

We're going to watch Metronomy tomorrow night.  The tickets turned up on Friday.  We're numbers 18 and 19.  Hmm.  Sell out?  Perhaps not.

New series of House starts on (god awful) Sky 1.  Can't wait.  Might go take some paracetamols now.  Toodles.
