I'm watching classic Monaco on the red button at the moment - Panis' victory in 1996 has just been shown.  I remember that too, although I didn't remember the big pile up 12 minutes from the end.  I also didn't remember the ending title sequence, but that's probably because my Dad would watch it until the flag, then go 'oh, right, that's finished then, i'll be in the garage if you need me.' and then put the TV off.

It has to be said that I'm rather nervous about qualifying, as everyone seems to be quicker than Jense.  Like the toad, and also Fernando Anando.

Our Silverstone tickets arrived the other day, and our group going has now expanded to include Beeston's girlfriend, who (apparently) is a Jenson fan.  It remains to be seen, however!  But hopefully I'll get to meet her next weekend when I'm at home, as we should all be going to Stroud to see Jamie DJ.

Yesterday evening, instead of going out out for Howey's birthday, I went into town and then to the cinema on my own.  I didn't really know what to watch - I thought there might have been some tacky girly film I could see, but there was a load of stuff I had no desire to see, and then Star Trek and Wolverine which, although excellent, I've already seen.  So I decided to watch Angels and Demons, which I was surprisingly impressed with.  It moved at quite some pace, and was rather gory in places, but oh well.  I enjoyed myself.  I've never been to the cinema on my own before, but I think I'm going to do it more often because there are loads of films that I want to see that Dan doesn't.  I've been to gigs on my own and it's not really that much different.

I'm going into town after qualifying to see Lisa for a 'what do we need to sort out for Silverstone' chit chat.  As the weather is nice and warm, I've donned my £5 from a charity shop 80's Laura Ashley dress.  But with tights, because it's not that warm.

Also, have you seen how well young Jari-Matti is doing in Sardinia?  27 seconds ahead of Hirvonen, and 34 ahead of Loeb!  Eeek!  I'm crossing my fingers and toes in the hope that he can keep it together and hold the pair of them off.  He bloody deserves it.

On a final note, 1982 F1 titles for BBC were BRILLIANT!  Think space invaders, with cars instead of aliens, and you're about there.  And obviously you need The Chain, but I'm not sure whether the shots of a couple of drivers topless was entirely relevant.

Before I disappear to hang out the washing, what is with GP2 this year?  Not only is it not being shown anywhere, Grosjean seems to be running away with it, while di Grassi seems to be getting stuck.  What's with that?

things to make and do, f1, jenson button, jari-matti latvala
