Update on Meeeeee!
Hello all! Since my life has been so chaotic and random, and has now mostly smoothed itself out, I shall let you know what's in store for me this summer!
I finished my placement last Friday and got a great evaluation from Ms Hudson. I'm gonna go bring her fudge as a thank you tomorrow; it was a really fun few weeks.
So now I'm frantically trying to catch up on the week of correspondence course work that I missed while placementing, plus do the work for this week. Oh, and I also have 3 essays due next week. I'm taking American History, Sex, Gender and Popular Culture, and a Women Writer's course... yeah 3 is too many courses to take, even by correspondence. Gah. But on the bright side, stress now means I won't have as much stress during the schoolyear, which is nice. And I'd probably be bored out of my mind during the day while everyone's at work anyway. Plus some of it is really interesting!
Speaking of work, I start at the embassy in DC on Monday, June 4th. I'm working in Cultural Affairs, which is part of Public Affairs, the division that hires the unpaid interns. So though I have no idea what working in Cultural Affairs entails, I may end up having some poor intern friends (which would help me save money!) They guaranteed me 6 weeks of work and then that they'd keep me on until the money runs out. Apparently they get a grant from the government to hire students every year, so I can work as long as the grant money holds out. Hopefully that's at least 8 or 9 weeks, if not 10 or 12. I'm crossing my fingers!
Regardless, I'm staying in DC all summer. I have my exams in Baltimore at the end of July, and my sister and I are flying out to London (England) to stay with Brian, Denise and Paige for a week or so in late August. And that's pretty much my summer!
My mom wants me to have a BBQ around the 29th-ish before I leave, does that work for you guys? I'm going to Toronto on Friday the 1st to spend the weekend with my Queen's friends, and flying out of Pearson to meet my dad in DC. I think the 29th is a Tuesday, so either the 28th, 29th, 30th, sometime then? Post with preferences, i want as many of you there as possible!
