Many many superheroes

Well haven't blogged lately due to actually working. Job has been alright, a few screw ups here and there but otherwise good. I'm really trying not to get negative when I screw up, but it just feels like I can't get aything right and I really need this job.

Anyways enough pessimism, I feel like rambling and reviewing some comics.

Saw the Green Lantern trailer. Very nice except for two things: the CGI painted suit still looks lame and every time I look at Ryan Reynolds I just CAN'T see Hal Jordan.

Also I've got myself some comics, so let's dive into those, starting with Batwoman #0.

Yeah this was suggested to me by the guy in the comicbook store, and since I liked what I'd read of Batwoman in 52, I thought why not?
It's all set-up here, but the noir style artwork is great and Kate is a genuinely interesting character. Her reasons for becoming Batwoman seem to be similar to that of the Batman, vengence against family death. Eh, it works, and I think that there may be other reasons why she has a lot of anger. She's also got kudos from me for wearing sensible flat shoes when crime fighting. There are two parralell scenes with different sets of artwork, one (the noir style) featuring Batwoman fighting some cultists at the docks being watched by Batman as he ponders on her secret identity (Kate Kane) and the other in a regular style with Kate going about her day to day business and being watched by......Batman in disguise I think. Not 100% sure what was going on there. I'm at least curious about the main series and reckon I'll check it out.
Not much to say there really, but like I said it is all set-up.

Next, Superboy #1

First of all, I really like this cover. It's a good, traditional hero pose and is verys striking. It stands out on a shop shelf, like a good cover should. That and I just think it's well drawn.
Now, I've never really thought one way or the other about Superboy, although I was like "wha?" when he was brought back to life after dying. The story of him being cloned from Superman and Lex Luthor was interesting and a good source of teen angst in Teen Titans, but he's basically over it by now.
When I heard about this series, I thought it might be DC's way of grabbing fans of the tv show Smallville by offering them a similar set up: teenager in small town with superpowers. But it's pretty alright.
It does have some vague plot set-up with Phantom Stranger giving Connor a confusing warning before leaving to go save Ma Kent as she falls off a chair. He also calls her "Ma" which confuses me because I thought they tried to pass off Superboy as Clark Kent's cousin, not brother. Then again maybe everyone calls her "Ma", whatever. Connor wears a pair of glasses and a dorky shirt to pass himself off as a normal, unassuming highschool student despite having muscles like an NFL quarterback. He also goes to school with Lori Luthor, niece of Lex which, as Connor comments, makes her kind of his cousin (so Superman and Lex Lutho are both his dad. Imagine that parent's evening for a moment). An alien named Parasite wants to suck out Connor's power so he can take down Superman. I don't want to say anymore because it'll be spoilers, but an exchange between Connor and his best friend is interesting, the fight is good and a cliffhanger definately has me buying the next issue as soon as I can.

In other news, I feel like doing something crafty but I don't know what. I've kinda of been starved for creativity since leaving uni. Need to find either a project or an amatuer theatre group.

Anyways, gonna try and get back to blogging regularly even with my job. Also will hopefully get to cash up the change in my penny Dalek.

Peace out.
