end of the week and stuffs

So I've now had both my final lecture and seminar of my degree. Yeah. So that's it then. Nothing more to say on that really. I mean yeah there's the presentation write up, essay and eam to go, but it's basically over. All there is left is whether I've passed things and stuffs. So...umm......yeah.....

But enough of that bollocks, I'm borrowing/stealing something from futuresoon with my 3 favourite anime openings. Why top 3? Well I get into that, as you'll see.

Sailor Moon

No, seriously, I mean it. Now I'm not talking about the uber cheesey dub opening, which I found out later has a LOT of spoiler clips for the end of the season:

but rather the original Japanese one. The reason I like the original one more is the song. The first time I heard it I found it to be a bit odd as I was so used to the uber cheesey one.
Now the problem here is that I want to show you the full unchanged intro, but I also wanted one that had English subtitles to show you the lyrics to the song, which is one of the reasons I like it. I'm afraid that the best video I could find for it was the first part of the first eisode of Sailor Moon.

Personally I think it gives a more mature, sweet and sad view on the relationship between Sailor Moon and Tuxedo Mask. Also it doesn't contain lyrics such as "with the Sailor Scouts to help fight".

Although that darn dub theme is catchy. And I like the shot of Sailor Moon as the Moon Princess (yeah, she's Sailor MOON and in the first series she's trying to find the MOON Princess, I mean honestly) looking over her shoulder. I'm not sure which episode that's from, but I like it.

There's also the second Japanese opening to the first series:

but I've only become familiar with that as I've been watching some original subtitled Sailor Moon. Nice that it shows all the senshi at the beginning and the shot of Moon Princess basically nuking the forces of evil with her Moon Power.

And that's the last sailor Moon thing, I promise.

.............

ALL TOGETHER NOW!

FIGHTING EVIL BY MOONLIGHT.....

Cowboy Bebop
Very very obvious, but I honestly don't care.

I just love the song, I love the style of the credits, there just isn't for me anything to dislike. It's actually a little embaressing but I haven't seen all the series, only the first half. this is due to being unable to find the second half on DVD. However I enjoy the first half of the series very much. I like the set-up, I like the characters, I like the humour. Okay I hear things get a little uber angsty with Spike later on, and I'll make an opinion on that when I've seen it, but for now I like it.

Haruhi Suzumiya- opening 2
Yeah, not the original opening, but the second one.

I just think this one is so funky. Plus with the line-up at the end Kyon is doing a facepalm. Oh Kyon.
Not much else to say there really. Random interlude that the other night someone was talking about an anime convention they went to and how people don't like Haruhi anymore because of Endless Eight. Can I get an eye rolling? I can understand why some people thought it was annoying, but the worst thing of all worst things in the history of worst things and ruining the series forever? No. Personally I thought it was kinda funny.

ANYWAY........that's sort of it. It occurs to me now that I need to see more series' of anime (reccormendations very much appreciated). As for the shows I do watch, but haven't included, there are reasons for this. Ouran High School Host Club futuresoon already covered all the good stuff there, so there was no need to. Weiss Krutz I just like the song, the opening itself is a bit meh. Angelic Layer I like, but the opening doesn't really dazzle much, it just shows the charcters and has some peppy "yeah go for it" moments. Best opening for that kinda thing would be Pokemon.

Bleach I'm going to give an honourable mention to. The first opening to the series:

Apart from like one bit with Ichigo fighting you'd have no idea what this series is about and that gives me a giggle.
and the second:

has a couple of epicy moments in it. And Hanataro. And Kenpachi. I'm down with that. There's also like 30 more openings which I haven't seen because I'm only halfway through the Soul Society arc with the anime, after which I'll probably stop buying the DVDs for the sake of my wallet.

One opening I don't like for a series I do like is Azumanga Daioh.

And I have no idea why I don't like it. There's absolutely nothing in particular wrong with it. It just annoys me and I don't like it. There's just something about it that makes me want to skip it and go "what the jam?!?!" when I do watch it.

Then we have another one of those weird, catchy, slightly annoying theme songs from an anime dub. Cardcaptors.

Man it's been a while since I've watched that. Not much of a theme song or opening, but it's that darn catchiness. Granted it's no "I want to be the very best, like no one ever was", but it's one I'll always remember.

Interestingly I've never seen the original Cardcaptor Sakura anime opening. So for the sake of SCIENCE I will watch it. What you're getting here is my very first reaction to it.

It's very.......well, cutesy. I'm not saying that in a bad way, I just don't think you'd watch that on its own and think that this was a series about a girl with magical powers trying to find mystcial cards of chaos magic. But that's just me.

So yes, three favourite anime openings and some extras. Two conclusions I have drawn:
1. I need to watch more anime series'
2. A big factor for liking an anime opening is down to the song used. Same with anime endings. Although that's another list entirely. And now that I think about it would probably be just Haruhi with Hare Hare Yukai and the first Bleach one.

In other news, Doctor Who Vampires I liked. Really funny in places, but my heart goes out to Rory. He needs to get a big heroic moment soon or he's gonna end up with Tin Dog Syndrome. Heck, I wouldn't really mind if the Doctor ditched Amy and just travelled around with Rory for a bit. Also liked the line about avoiding Casanova. Also liked the line about avoiding Casanova. And the Doctor jumping out of the cake.

So I'm gonna stop there because I don't want this entry to get so long it's unreadable. Next entry will probably be about theatrically stuff as I have auditions coming up.

Peace out.

doctor who, top something list, anime
