New Year’s Resolution 2011

Jan 01, 2011 18:31

It has been far longer than I would like since I last put pen to paper or fingers to my keys as the case may currently be.   As of late I have found myself overworked, and with little time for my good friends much less writing, or even drawing.  Not that I’m ungrateful, jobs are hard enough to come by in this economy, and this one has proved to be fairly easy as they go, albeit with long hours, averaging about 65-70 a week.   This has become increasingly frustrating, as I tend to rate writing and drawing particularly high amongst my interests and personal skills, which is not saying much considering my lack of practice in both.  Consequently I have come to find this inexperience is one of the chief causes in my lack of direction in my life, both skills being immensely important to any career, which I would seriously like to enter, not to mention for my own personal gratification.  How can one even hope to entertain ideas of being a writer or artist with so little practice.

Any frequent reader of this journal, and I use the word “frequent” loosely, will realize how often I complain about how rarely I post.  If all goes according to plan I will soon be updating and perhaps writing fiction or for personal use far more often.   My New Year’s resolution is to write every day.  I’ll aim for a page a day, maybe more maybe less, until I get into the swing of it.  I need to break a long-standing writer’s block and hopefully this will help.  So what do you guys think?
