A small Shuuhei x Kira drabble~

There is a different sort of light in Izuru’s eyes nowadays, Shuuhei notices. They have lost their vacant look and in its place is this light, not quite an interest in life, but something close enough. His complexion is no longer sallow and when he laughs, the sound is at least genuine if not entirely joyful.
This is definitely progress, he decides, but Rangiku laughs when he tells her about it in the middle of enjoying sake cups and two plates of dango.
“My dear Shuuhei,” she says affectionately, “you have no idea, don’t you?”
He frowns, feeling like he has completely missed something. “What?”
Her eyes twinkle. “It’s endearing how clueless you are sometimes.”
“I’ll show you clueless,” he growls. “Just tell me, will you.”
“Kira’s change,” she says, very slowly, enjoying each word and grinning at his growing annoyance, “is because of you, of course.”
Ah, so that’s why.
