Hey there!
Let me tell you it was a wonderful weekend. Friday night started early, which was nice. Left work at 12:00 and was off to NYC with the family. We got there super early and ended up spending some time walking around the city, we were there for an 8 o'clock show. My mother and I went to Sephora where they have an Anastacia's (for those of you who don't know, she's a woman from L.A. who does celeb eye brows and makes them perfect). So for $28, I know twice Hamilton prices, they did my eyebrows and they are beautifully manicured. I wish I A) lived in NYC so I could go get it done once every two weeks and B) had enough money to get it done once every two weeks. So I got my brows done and we went to dinner at . . . Atruzzi? Maybe? I don't know. It as a nice place. I had veal stuffed with prosciuto and fontane cheese! OMG! Delicious beyond description! Also had wonderful Tiramusi for dessert. (I apologize for butchering some of these words.) After dinner we went to the theatre and saw "Little Shop of Horrors" w/o Joey Fatone because he's smelly. But it didn't matter. The show was incredible. Cast was good, no stand outs but good. The show itself just flies and has some of the catchiest tunes! Also the writing is soo funny and witty. Of course the ending is much darker than the movie's ending, which I loved! All and all . . . WONDERFUL! Really worth the price of admission.
That was Friday. Saturday Arlene and I took a trek up to the city again to see Donnie Darko: The Director's Cut. Donnie, our favorite sci-fi movie about time travel and gelly worms coming out of people's chests was good, but very long. The original is better. This cut does a better job of explaining what is going on, but it still isn't in perfect condition. But this is the directors (Kelly . .. sombody Kelly) first film, so it's not tooo shabby. After the movie we went to Tick Tock diner for a late lunch, early dinner. Than we headed over to the Metropolitan Musuem of art to check out the Caravaggio exhibit and laugh at the modern art. If you go to the garden on the roof, there is a spectacular view of the city! After that it was back to Times Square for desert at TGIFridays and than on the train home. Adventures in public transportation included taking the S shuttle (goes to Grand Central although I still haven't seen the famed interior) and than taking the 5 train uptown. So subway trains included the 9, S, and 5 and the bus included the M4 to get back to Penn Station. It was a great day and we really didn't get lost. Although I couldnt' get my barings up town, but it was only for about five minutes until I realized which side the art musuem was on. I wish I could sew! We passed by so many cloth stores and the dresses they showed were goregous.
Sunday was a day to relax and watch lots of TV. I saw the show Rescue Me on FX. I love Denis Leary in this role. My only hope is that the show doesn't linger on 9/11 and make it a platform. Besides that day, the every day heroics of fireman are what need to be celebrated and Leary, as writer, producer, and actor, seems to know what he's doing. I'm excited. I might actually have a show to watch! Hooray for the asshole!
Tonight is the Hamilton Idol audition, round one. Here's hoping we make it to the next round. Practiced the other day and I think I got my thirty seconds under control. I'll run through it a few more times tonight before I leave but I'm confident in my ability to perform this piece. Tonight, after the audition I'm going to see the Bourne Supremacy with Mr. Hot stuff himself Matt Damon. I loved the first one and I hear the second movie is going to be just as good. I can't wait.
Alrightie, no more rambling for today. I'm out for now.
lolove,
Laura
