My Bloody Princess
You are not of my flesh
Nor are you my blood
But somehow I manage to hate you
As only family could.
I have to endure you
As if you didn't already have everything
Except what you really need
And oh, if that's not the kicker
It's as if you are the world
And I should supplicate for what you share with me
And defer, ever defer to you,
At the mercy of your whim, my Queen
Stop my tongue and turn all heads
Make it as if I were never there
Take over my world, my titles, as if they were yours
As if I had never been there
Everything is not your toy,
Everyone is not your slave,
I owe you not my tithes,
Nor my rooms, nor my gratitude
No one else will tell you what you are most in need of hearing
So I'll be still, and watch you flounder
Once you're given everything
You cannot do for yourself, not a thing
You give up, and I have no pity,
You give up, and I check myself
I hide my supposed heartlessness
As your refusal to do for yourself garners the pity
Of everyone else
I would love to be your sister
I would love to be your friend
But I cannot abide the way they've made you
And the behaviors you attend
You demand that others give all of themselves
But you won't do a thing for you
Lazy princess on your throne
You manufacture means for pity
While you call for alms to your royalty.
I will not pay tariff to walk this ground
I will not prostrate myself in awe of you
But though I cannot change the way you do
I will just sit back, never perpetuate these images of you
I'll watch you self-destruct
As everyone lays offerings at your feet.
