Either I Forgot A Lot or They Forgot to Teach Me Stuff!
I am spending time becoming acquainted with Ethan's books and it is quite possible that I will learn almost as much as him this year. Not the math...thankfully I have the math down :) But we will be reading tons of books together (and him some on his own - but there's a chance I will read some of them too) on American History. Not just text books, but biographies and historical fiction that will bring the past to life for us. All of the Language Arts (writing, vocab, etc) is drawn from all this reading - what a concept! And then there's the science. We are studying astronomy. Now I did take an astronomy course in college, but it was a self-paced class where you read a chapter and took a test on the computer. Needless to say I have forgotten most of what I was supposed to have learned. Ethan will be making an astronomy notebook and building models and doing experiments. Now, all of this is time consuming for me because I have to be prepared to lead him through these studies...but I really do think I will come out smarter (if perhaps more exhausted) on the other end! Only 2 week days left of summer for us!
