"CBC SPORTS ONLINE - Washington Wizards guard Steve Blake underwent successful ankle surgery Wednesday to remove bone chips.
Blake, 24, injured his right ankle in a pickup basketball game at his summer camp and is expected to miss 10-12 weeks.
"It is an uncommon injury, but we expect Steve to make a full recovery," Wizards president of basketball operations Ernie Grunfeld said. "Steve is a very diligent worker.
"I know he is anxious to begin rehabilitation and get back to action with his teammates as soon as possible."
Blake started 14 times in 75 appearances as an NBA rookie, averaging 5.9 points, 2.7 assists, 1.5 rebounds and 18.5 minutes.
Washington selected him in the second round - 38th overall - out of Maryland in the 2003 NBA Draft."
