[For anyone.] Genderswitch pre-play.

When it happened the third time around, it wasn't all that hard to just wake up and deal, but it wasn't all that charming, either. John was a little disturbed to realize how easily he got accustomed to his sort of annual breasts and...other parts. He'd gone about his daily routine all the same but once that was over, John wasn't exactly keen on ( Read more... )

What Jill was trying to accomplish was simple; she wanted to get home to her own hut without running into anyone she knew, but that was a feat, considering she knew practically everyone who lived in New Atlantis. On top of that, Rodney's pants were too short and Jill kept pausing to yank them down on her very narrow hips. She hadn't been this narrow since fifth grade.

"Oh, Christ," he muttered, spotting someone up ahead. Between the hair and the monster truck, she knew who it was. Maybe if she was really quiet and ducked her head, he wouldn't notice as she passed by.

Unluckily for Jill - and John, of course - another failed attempt at making the truck flip against a small branch over the boardwalk just had it change direction, headed straight toward her.

"Hey, look out," John said, eyes still on the truck when another pair of legs suddenly came into view. He did the equivalent of having it slam on the brakes, then looked up to apologize.

Except, well.

"Uh."

"I swear to God, John Sheppard, if you laugh at me there's going to be some serious problems in your future," Jill threatened, crossing her arms and looking down at him with what she hoped was a decent enough glare. "I'll find a way to give you Marburg."

Okay, so that wasn't possible, but it still felt kind of nice to say it in a twisted sort of way.

There were a variety of reasons all John did was stare for a little while.

One, he was being threatened by his own face, in his own voice. Two, whoever had his face knew who he was. Three...three, he was pretty sure he know who that was.

"I wasn't gonna laugh," he finally protested, eyes still wide.

"As soon as you figured out just who I am, you would have laughed," Jill answered, feeling fairly certain of this. It didn't seem fair that she had to look like John and John didn't have to look like her, although maybe it was better for Rodney that that hadn't happened.

"And yeah, it's me. It's Jill," she added, losing most of her steam at that admission. Her shoulders slumped and she shrugged.

"No, I'm still pretty sure I wouldn't have," John insisted, feeling a little like his world had gone kind of lopsided.

It was one thing to have Lionel and Brendan looking like him, or to have had Pam or Arya in his body, but another thing entirely to have Jill looking like him when she was a man.

"I used to think things couldn't really get any weirder, but I guess this place likes proving me wrong."

"Tell me about it," Jill muttered, reaching up to run a hand over her hair. It refused to lay flat, although she thought she was managing it better than John ever seemed to.

"Do you have any clothes I can borrow?" she asked finally, giving another sigh. "Rodney's don't exactly fit me. I'm too tall."

"I can see that," John managed, blinking again at the mention of Rodney. His mind hadn't really gone there until Jill mentioned him, and now all John could think of was -

Actually, no, he wasn't going there.

"Yeah, come on," he said, scooping the truck up as he passed by Jill. Get you a pair of jeans and a shirt, or something. And what the hell are you doing to your hair?"

"I'm trying to fix it," Jill answered with a faint scowl, running her fingers through it again before she gave up. "Do you have any idea how weird this is?" He had to, she was wearing his face, after all. "I mean, I can deal with waking up in Carson's body or Cameron's body. It's strange, but I can handle it. I don't want to have to think about handling this. It's too strange."

"Then don't think about it," John said easily, as if that was all it took. He knew it was goddamn strange, he was the one talking to Jill.

He looked over, a little disoriented by how much taller he was - usually he saw eye to eye with Lionel - and shook his head. "You can't do anything about the hair, it does what it wants."

Exhibition A: his own current hair. As a girl.

"And it sure as hell isn't long enough to braid," Jill answered, sounding faintly amused as she gave up on the hair and then heaved a sigh. "It's entirely unfair that you get to look like someone else, for the record. Now let's... wait, did you steal one of Rodney's trucks?"

John gave Jill a startled look at the mention of braiding his hair - not even Lionel would do that, and he didn't want people mistaking her for him.

The look quickly turned into ann innocent one and he shrugged with one shoulder. "I just borrowed it for a while."

"Is he aware you've borrowed it or did you use his horror with my new state to your advantage and sneak it while he was trying to avoid looking anywhere but at the ceiling?" Jill asked with a small smile, looking down at her feet. Her suddenly very large feet.

"How about I plead the fifth so you're not incriminated?" John suggested - well, more like told. He was about as stubborn as Rodney when he wanted to be. More, probably.

"I promise not to tell him if you don't," Jill decided, only because things were rough enough right now while she looked like John and she didn't want to make things even more uncomfortable. "So how is it that you get to look like someone else?" That wasn't fair at all, as far as she was concerned.
