This was almost bordering on ridiculous, except John was having a little too much fun.
The heat made him feel a slower than usual, which he tried to work through and just ended up tiring himself out a lot quicker. That didn't mean he would stop, though - he had no problems with doing his best to kick Veronica's ass in this context. Besides, it made him feel a bit better to still be standing, even with his shirt sticking to his skin, his hair half plastered to his forehead and what he was pretty sure was a growing welt on his shoulder where Veronica got a lucky hit in.
The practice swords they were using hurt.
He twirled his sword in his hand, trying not to look over when a movement from Arya caught his eye. She was a little crumpled heap of a girl right now, which John found hilarious. Apparently Starks didn't take to the heat all that well. Either way, it meant she didn't throw rocks at them while she 'supervised'; she just stuck to little twigs.
John didn't mind it too much. He'd been in Afghanistan for half a year (though it had never gotten this humid), he could take the heat. If it made him a little sloppy and ended up in a few lucky hits for Veronica, he'd chalk that up to practice hazard.
