The LJ post that eats other posts for breakfast... and snack.

Soooo, it's been forever and a day since I updated (which almost makes me want to tangent off on the fact that there is a SG1 episode of that same name, but I will attempt to hold that non-sequitor to this parenthetical) and I have so much to tell you all. Just be glad I don't have the camera charged up, or there'd be pictures too. Maybe next time. I will lj-cut these things to organize it, as well as to save your friends' list.

In which Trifles is Lost and then Found

trifles came to visit us and our couch and it was great fun. Poor her, she had to sit and drink lots of hot chocolate and wait for me to come home from class, because my cell battery had died when I left it at home. Oops. We hung out and spent some time at the Brooklyn Museum; this was good because I had never been to Brooklyn before *waits for gasps of suprise to subside* I like it there. A little far to live there and then go to school in Manhatten, but still.

All in all, quite fun. Older Sister took us out for lovely, lovely dinners, and all was well. Then came the weekend with the mad dash down to the Mawr with Biologist!Twin.

How Many people Can Fit on One bed, or, My Friends and I are Co-Dependent

So after watching Playwright!Twin be an exception actress in her play (with the help of Director Dilexi and Frank the Unicyclist (as it were)) and having the cuteness of both twins in one place admired by PT's friends, we all piled into Older Sister's apartment and slept in large piles of people. Fortunately, we are all very snuggly.

Then, we took the Chinatown bus. If you have not taken this, it's amazing. Comfortable and fast (NY to Philly in an hour and a half? Priceless) for only 20 bucks round-trip. It's great. We traveled back onto campus and got made much over (though I had totally forgotten that I'd gotten my hair cut since school let out. People, fortunately, are a big fan. w00t) and squealed at. The best suprise of the night? Wilma was there to visit! Yay for lots of friends in one places. We all got our cuddle-quota, which is important. I love having such a comfortable relationship with my friends. I even shared my shoes! Which are new! And PINK! Totally channeled my younger sister on that one. She was there to help pick them out. And there was their cast party and their show (which was hysterical and OMG As You Like It is a screwed up play) and then woe. Biologist!Twin and I had to go back to New York, and then, after dinner in Little Italy with Playwright!Twin, she went back to PhD-Land. But they're both coming for Thanksgiving! *dances with glee* On to today, which is the COOLEST!

In Which There are Squees and OMGs, but Not by Me (at least Externally)

So I celebrated both the extreme lack of sleep this weekend and and the fact that it's Monday and hence No Class Day by sleeping forever. Then, I resolved myself to be Zany and Unpredictable. Namely: go to Times Square and wait in line to see if I could get a 20-dollar RENT ticket. For those not well-versed (or overly versed) in RENT tradition: RENT believes in selling its first two orchestral rows for 20 bucks a seat. Now, because the show is obscenely popular, the Broadway showing has instituted a lottery to stave off looong lines and long days. So you put your name on a card and wait patiently. Or insanely. Either one.

So I went through this harrowing ritual and luck was with me. I had a ticket! I was third seat in all the way on the right in the FRONT ROW. It was AMAZING. I've seen RENT several times (I think this is my fourth time) and it'd been so long since I'd seen the show that while I knew that I liked it immensely--to say that I'm looking forward to the movie is a bit of an understatement--tonight made me realize WHY I liked it as much as I did.

Partly, it's the story: poor as shit twenty-somethings in New York City, loving each other and living with joy (or at least harmonic enthusiasm) despite the fact that they're broke, sick, lonely, or all three. And tonight told that story well. It wasn't the best performance I've seen: some of the supporting cast wasn't very loud, and even the leads had a tendency to oddly enunciate their vowels periodically. So if you want perfection, go buy one of the soundtracks. Trust me, they never miss a note. Or at least, if they do, they miss it continuously. *smirk*

I remembered that I love this show because of the personality in the characters. No matter how often this show is performed, these are live people and will put their own specific emphasis and stamp on the way that Mark smiles, or their own tilt to Roger's scowl. Matt Caplan, Mark for the moment, did this exceedingly well. He made Mark his; which, after I stopped trying to make it Anthony Rapp singing on the Original Broadway soundtrack, was funny and sarcastic and snarky and hysterical. I told him (amidst all the squealing 16-year-olds who wanted his autograph because Mark OMGSOHOT) that he was my favorite Mark yet. They all owned their characters very much (I especially liked the interactions between Roger and Mimi about Benny) and, all in all, there was enormous fodder for more Mark/Roger fic. Also, "Without You" is the most adorably painful love song ever. Which, I might add, I have now added to my Big Damn fanfic100 Table here. Nothing new yet, but just wait. Already the plot bunnies are starting to jump about.

To conclude: I got a picture of me with Mark and Roger! They were all doing a charity thing and so I know have a polaroid of the three of us. It was so cute, when the guy taking pictures told me "oh, it can be a group shot!" and I informed him that no, I was there by myself because I'm That Cool, Roger (or rather Matt, at least that's what I think his name is) says "oh, we're your friends". I almost died. When I get the camera working, I will show you this picture. It's great.

So Long and Thanks for all the Fish Attention

I guess now we'll see if LJ will let me post something this long. I have oodles of work this week, which is no good. I think they're trying to kill us before Thanksgiving. Ick. Wish me luck! If you're still reading this, of course. I wouldn't blame you for stoping. It's kinda long. Cheers!
