Well I Did It

I deleted my Facebook and Myspace.

I'm very happy with this. I kind of wish that I couldn't be tagged in photos and such but oh well, I guess I'll just avoid cameras and events where assholes would have them.

Why do this, you ask?

Well, I happen to have a lot of friends and family that don't do shit with their lives and compromise this by going out and doing as many stupid things as possible, taking as many pictures as they can and posting them on the internet, thinking this proves to the world that they've done something INTERESTING. I'm ok with this; some people have no drive to do anything, whatever, but by posting pictures of me on the internet, attempting to tolerate their company by acting like I'm having fun, and refusing to take them down when I ask nicely, well, that pisses me off. I'm not some fucking celebrity, and if I don't want my picture on the internet, then you take my picture down.

Also, I had people using Facebook/Myspace as an excuse to harass me and get in contact with me, and it was to the point where even my boss wanted to friend me. I felt as though my privacy was compromised and why should I have to worry about some company being in charge of my information and keeping it away from this person or this person?

Some people don't want to be plastered all over the internet; SOME people are trying to get into career fields where pictures/even being connected to certain people would ruin it for them. Especially since due to silly things like race and gender, the odds don't even start in their favor.

I want the internet to see what I allow it to see; the mask I put on every time I'm not alone.

And I'm not some crazy rich bitch, so I think I'm allowed to have that.

Then why am I posting this on LJ hurr durr? Well, I don't know/don't friend people on LJ here that I know EXCEPT ONE PERSON AND A HALF. I say half because I know the other, I've even seen her irl a couple of times but I've been too shy to talk to her lol. It's not that I don't want to make friends, I do, I just don't think sites like Facebook/Myspace/Twitter (I'm not talking about forums, livejournal, etc) are the places to find legit, honest friendships.

Annnnnd I'm done.

rant, life
