Sometimes a play just isn't enough...

I'm feeling in need of a different sort of challenge for next term. I'm supposed to do a reading course with BM in Antigone, which would be cool...except I've read it like 3 times in English, and it doesn't seem to pose the challenge I want. At this stage of the game, i'm not good enough with the greek to push the text as much as I could in reading a play over a whole term. I'm thinking that I want to take on the challenge of bulk. I want to read something huge, and push my abilities with the language to the limit; something massive, grotesquely big: Republic. No, that's too big, but along those lines. I want to read something large enough though, that the worry of language by necessity has to fall away and what's left is strictly an interaction with the text through reading. This of course demands some degree of fluency. This advance would make my ability to look at texts closely so much easier. I could play with the language as if it were much closer to my own. I could explore meaning and interpretation with so much more competency. I'm insane! We'll see how this idea feels in the morning.
