My toe is getting better. Michael drove me to work on Friday, and I was really much more comfortable at work than I would have been at home. It was nice and cool, and I had a convenient box to elevate my foot. It is awkward to walk in this stupid shoe, and sometimes it is a little uncomfortable if my foot feels swollen, but it's not that bad. I drove myself to church this morning, and that went fine, so tomorrow I will drive myself to work. The doctor said I should stay off my feet, but he DIDN'T say I couldn't drive. (Well he MIGHT have said it, but if he really wanted me not to, he should have said it when I was awake enough to remember!)
This morning I played a Bach 2-part invention for the offertory. I had done it last year with piano, but this year my accompanist decided to do it on guitar. It sounded very nice, and I got a number of compliments. We hadn't really picked anything for the prelude, so Sandy basically opened a book that I had, liked what he saw, and we did it. It was a very easy piece that I had not practiced because it was too boring. However, put it with the accompaniment and it sounds GREAT! I really enjoy playing with somebody else, and was glad to get back to it after my 2 week hiatus.
My flute choir director is having a recital for her students in early August, and asked if I would like to play a duet with her for it. She picked the Adler arrangement of I'm a Yankee Doodle Dandy that was just published in Flute Talk. It is a little bit challenging, and will be really fun! I have been practicing the bass flute to play next year. It is somewhat difficult to get a reliable sound out of it. Cathy has decided to trade it in, so I took it back to her yesterday. I hope I like the new one better!
