Yesterday at the assisted living complex I was actually managing to walk faster than a couple of the old folks in walkers. I explained to my flute teacher that I was having trouble getting rid of my one remaining crutch because when I tried to walk with no crutches my knee would hurt. She observed that I was turning my right foot out more than the left and wondered if that was causing the problem. Bingo! My right foot tends to turn out because it is unnatural to sit with your leg extended and your toes straight up in the air, so the foot tends to sag down to the side. Now it is used to turning out, so it feels like I am walking pigeon-toed when I point my toes straight ahead. But, when I do that, my knee does not hurt.
So I have been walking all around today with no crutch!
Rachel called last night. They are coming for Diana's wedding the first week in June, and will probably stay a week. Yay! This means that Michael will have to get all the old video tapes off of her bed!
