Trying out the Sephora Nail Patch in Carpet Red.

Recently one of the first Dutch Sephora stores opened in the Vroom & Dreesman department store in Utrecht. It's weird having access to Sephora in my own city. Somehow it takes a bit of the exclusiveness out of it. The idea that I would only be able to visit Sephora once or twice a year during my holidays in France...

On the other hand, it does mean that I have easy access to one of my favourite make-up brands! I no longer have to worry about replacing my make-up brushes because I can get a new one by just making a quick stop at the V&D during my lunch break.

It also means that I am now trying out the Sephora Nail Patch in 'Red Carpet' which is a deep red gloss. I had a packet of the patches at home but wanted to save them for a special occasion. With a Sephore store in town however, it will be easy to get another packet for another special occasion and I get to try them out first!

Now I thought the nail patches would be fiddly to get on and that, despite what they say in the instructions, it would take some time and patience. None of that though! Granted, carefully positioning the patches was a bit tricky at times, but after one or two tiny mishaps (didn't fold the sticker properly so it didn't tear off in one go) I got the hang of it.

Now, I am usually a disaster when it comes to nailcare and especially keeping my polished nails looking good. I manage it on my toes, but my fingernails are another story. Usually I get chipped polish after a single day, even if I apply the whole basecoat-polish-topcoat-shebang! My impatience does not combine well with polish that needs to dry for a long time and I cannot paint the nails on my right hand without splattering the polish everywhere. With all that in mind, the nail patches seem to be a good solution.

So, applying them is rather easy and after just one day my nails are still looking well-polished and shiny. However, I am already convinced that a single misjudged grab for my keyring inside my handbag might jar that glossy surface. Perhaps it's my intuitive caution that's helping me there. With the regular nailpolish on I might already have scratches!

I also wonder about the cost of these patches. A single packet, enough to do the nails of both hands and four touch-ups, costs €7,50. That's a lot of money compared to a bottle of good quality nailpolish. After all, the bottle will last you longer than eleven days!

For now I will try to find out if this polish does last eleven days! I'll keep you posted!

Love,
Nine
