Prince Rupert, B.C. - day 6

Greetings from Canada, eh.

Ported in Prince Rupert this afternoon after being at sea most of the day. We even arrived ahead of schedule which is a little surprising as we left Skagway almost two hours late. During our day onboard, Egg played in his first poker tournament! He played very well finishing in second place and taking home a cash prize of over $900. That certainly helps the finances on our vacation.  He is the best husband in the world!

Prince Rupert is a cute little town in British Columbia, mostly fishermen (crab season just began). We walked the town streets - the locals set up a small farmers market for us. It was more of a crafts show than a farmers market but who am I to judge. We found a charming spot for coffee called Cowpucino in a section of town called Cow Bay. It had cow print garbage cans and street markers, very clever some would say.

We went on a "Cruising with the Eagles" excursion. We were on a two level pantoon style boat. They turned up the "Eagles" and we traveled down the waterway to the local fish cannery. This time of year the Bald Eagles hang out around it for a steady food supply as no fish are running right now. We pulled in close to the shore and the crew chummed the waters. Egg got some great flight pictures, he had his camera set to take multiple shots in a row taking over 100 pictures in 15 minutes. We are hoping for about 15 shots to come out as good pictures. We'll keep you posted. There are more Bald Eagles in this port as Seagulls back home. The locals find them just about as annoying too.

Back on the ship we found dinner uneventful, followed by the "Pacific Cirque". The dancers were dreadful, a few aspiring dancers stole their moments, but as a whole the company was nothing to write home about. But they were just filler for the real "cirque" part of the show - 4 Chinese acrobats. I am always amazed by feats done by these athletes. They had a woman who juggled a barrel and a table (seperately) with her feet, and a man who threw and caught two different sized ceramic pots. I know how heavy the larger pots can be, it was amazing. They had a tumbler and a contortionist. At one point, the contortionist looked like she had decapitated herself the way she placed her body around her head.
