So, biting through the bitter fight that Bryan and I had today and the 2 big ass assignments that I had to do tonight, as well as the paper that I have to write tomorrow for Tuesday, and then the paper that I have to write Tuesday for Wednesday...and then my 2 huge online assignments, I'm going to post Barfight. And I'm gonna leave you with a bit of a cliffhanger here. 2 parts now.

Lacey...I don't even know how to describe her. Kind of laid-back, not really Taylor's type of girl. Anne (her sister) is definitely a character I need to revisit down the road (since this is a while back and I love her awesome crazy personality). And if you didn't like Amanda before, now you will. Patrick will be taking front stage soon as well. So, yeah, leave some feedback.

And I nod to the person who nommied me at Feel What I Dream. Thankies :-D So go enjoy and leave some feedback :-D

Part 11 - How Lacey Struck his Attention

Rinsing out glasses in the back room of the Star, Taylor looked up at one of the fellow bartenders who was coming back.

“TJ…we out of Parrot Bay Coconut Rum?” a bartender named Ian had come back and yelled at him.

Taylor sighed as he tried gently to lay down the martini glasses delicately on the stainless steel sink, “No, we should have another 3 bottles back in the old room, behind the Cuervo.”

“Oh really?” Ian asked softly.

Taylor sighed; he knew he was being rude and didn’t want to blow his cool because Ian was still new and training. He didn’t want to bust his chops, but he could not help but be completely consumed by the thought of change. To him, it seemed like everything had changed and nothing was the same anymore. His family, his work, his life, himself, everything was completely rearranged almost as if he could not recognized the reality around him. Not everything had changed; believe it or not, the Star had still kept many of its traditional roots, yet it was thrust into the world of the modern design. It still had its classic jukebox in the corner, the old customers, the same smoky atmosphere, the same rowdy staff of bartenders; you just had to get through a trendy restaurant to visit the roots. Taylor did not see that. He thought everything had changed just because they expanded their drink menu and hired some new guys and girls to bartend.

“Yes,” he grumbled, washing out more of the glasses and trying not to break any of them once again, “Need a hand?”

“I’ll go look for myself,” Ian said softly, turning and walking out of the room. He did not return a few minutes later, so Taylor assumed he had found the rum.

A few hours later, he was feeling tired and completely weary. He wanted to see his family. He knew they were all sitting in a hotel somewhere in the city, but he had no clue where they are. Besides, he was working.

He suddenly heard an order from the other side of the bar, “2 Liquid Cocaines. It’s her birthday.”

Eyebrow raising, glass cleaning, Taylor looked down the bar top and saw a blonde-haired girl calling at him the order.

“Quite an interesting choice,” Taylor walked down to the edge, “You know your shots.”

“My little sister, Lacey,” the girl smiled, “It’s her 21st birthday. I figured I would treat her to something as lethal as she was when we were little.”

“Anne, leave me alone,” the shy brunette smiled as the smoke seemed to blind her face from Taylor’s vision.

“I’m TJ,” he introduced himself, “The Liquid Cocaine for Miss Lacey will be on the house.”

“I bet,” Anne smiled back at him as he reached under the bar for the Bacardi 151 Rum, quickly filling the pony halfway full. Mixing the Jagermeister next into the same tiny shaker, he had to go into the back to get the Rumplemintz and smiled at the girl’s taste. This girl was going to get Lacey completely fucked up drunk. Quite a sister, he thought to himself. Quite a sister.

He laughed as he brought the two shots back to the bar and Lacey quickly downed it with a wince in her eyes as Anne shot hers back right afterwards.

“What next, ladies?”

“Know how to make an Abracadabra?” Anne asked softly.

“Yes,” he replied softly, realizing how pretty Anne was, but he was more attracted to Lacey’s innocence than Anne’s obvious knowledge of drinks, “And what shall you have, Lacey?”

“A Desert Sunrise, please,” she smiled innocently, her brown hair almost masking her brown eyes, looking up from her drink book.

“Coming up,” he smiled brightly at them and made their drinks quickly, staying near them to chat them up, but making sure he kept an eye on his other customers so that he would not get in trouble. Lacey was really attractive and he could not help but give her more…and more…well, not too much.

“Hey, we should head down to Chez Marmalade and get you a couple jello shots, Lacey,” Anne smiled, definitely feeling the head rush a couple of drinks had given her, “Hey, can we have the bill here, TJ Hooker?”

Taylor laughed, trying to ignore the name and handed them the bill, which came to a hefty 40 dollars between the two of them. Lacey smiled at Taylor shyly and after leaving him a large tip, around 20 dollars, he noticed that her loopy handwriting was in the form of a phone number on a bar napkin. He smiled softly down at the napkin, stuffing it in his pant pocket and hoping that Lacey would work out, and the next time he saw her, she wasn’t an alcoholic thanks to her sister.

But he couldn’t help but think of the possibilities. Amanda was just a roommate. Now Lacey was a completely different type of beast. He wouldn’t have to be afraid of seeing her in the morning, but he would never be that type of man. He was still attracted to Amanda, yes, but she had given no signals of liking him as well. No, he hadn’t shown her he liked her either, but this was beside the point. He was clearly attracted to Lacey and he wanted it to work.

Maybe this would finally get him to take Marci off his mind.

Part 12 - How Fate Came to Bite Him Back

“Welcome to my humble abode,” Taylor smiled softly, guiding the shy Lacey into the apartment. He had heeded Patrick’s advice and called Lacey a couple nights later. She had gotten over her hard hangover and was glad that he had called back. She vaguely remembered him, but when she saw him at the doorway to take them out to dinner, her memory sparked again. She remembered his smile, she remembered his skills at the bar, she remembered the beginning of that night so clearly.

“Wow…quaint,” she smiled softly, brushing her hair over her shoulders. Stepping into the apartment in a dainty set of heels and a nice long, flowing Bohemian style shirt with a tube top and a light hoodie jacket, she took a seat on one of the couches and smelled the scent of incense lingering in the air, not knowing where it was coming from. It smelled like vanilla and chamomile and the flowers that were sitting on the coffee table, hyacinths, accented the fresh, calming aroma of the burning incense.

“Thanks,” Taylor escorted her further inside, admiring her simple innocence and couldn’t help but smile, “Would you like something to drink?”

“Sparkling water?”

“Pellegrino?”

“You go all out,” Lacey smiled softly as he went into the kitchen for the Pellegrino water, pouring 2 glasses for both of them in a couple of champagne glasses.

“Anything for you,” he handed her glass to her and smiled into her eyes lightly, “I want to make this night something you will not forget.”

“I’m sure it will be,” she clinked glasses with him and took a deep sip of her Pellegrino, feeling the bubbles tickle her throat and she almost choked it back up.

“Not used to such fancy fare?” Taylor joked around with her.

“No, actually I’m not,” Lacey brushed her long hair behind her shoulders, her dark brown eyes that looked like dark marbles staring back into his own.

“Dude…I’m going to go down to Casey’s, you want to…” Patrick suddenly came out in just a towel, the water still dripping down his chest and through his hair as he looked at the sparsely lit room and immediately put a shocked look on his face, “DUDE! Sorry, I forgot…what’s your name?”

“Lacey,” she smiled, her eyes following his body. She could not help it; he was very attractive and her eyes were imagining what he would look like without the towel on, praying silently that it would drop, then she could forget Taylor and jump on that muscular body. But she couldn’t…she was on a date and she had to act like a woman.

“Lacey, I forgot Lacey was coming over tonight,” Patrick said lightly, “I’m Patrick, by the way. Tay’s roommate.”

“Pleasure,” she stuck out her hand and he shook it.

“I better…be getting ready,” Patrick quickly shuffled out of the room.

“Does he always do that?” Lacey giggled shyly.

“Believe it or not, yes,” he laughed, “But usually…he’s dressed.”

“Very funny,” Lacey giggled and sipped on her water again, “Taylor…I had a great time tonight. I’ve never been to the Moonlighter before.”

He smiled at that thought; it had been his brilliant idea to take her to the Moonlighter, making sure Marci could see their booth from the bar and he held her hand a lot. He did not happen to notice if she was jealous or not, but he hoped that she felt a twinge every time she saw them together and remembered what she had with him.

And now he was about to go for the big kiss…

“Tay, could you do me a favor?” Amanda came out of the other room, passing Patrick on her way out. She was giggling like mad and was trying her best to keep a straight face as Patrick and her plan unfolded in front of their eyes, “Could you tell me…”

And she stepped out of the hallway, knowing Lacey was there and trying to keep her posture completely confident as she walked out, “How I look in this?”

Taylor turned back to look at Amanda and his jaw dropped. Lacey was completely shocked by what she saw. Amanda was clad in only a tiny ruby red bikini and her hair was draped over her shoulders, slightly curly in the dark light flickering off the walls.

Taylor tried his best to take a deep swallow and remember to leave as Lacey turned around, folding her arms and sighing deeply.

“I got it on sale,” Amanda squealed in secret delight as she felt her knees shaking in front of him, hoping that the plan would work, “What do you think?”

Taylor was still wide-jawed and Lacey could not stand it anymore, “I…think I’m going to leave you and your…roommate…alone,” she sighed deeply as she shyly stepped out of the door.

That’s when the terror began.
