Rant Therapy

After lurking on Apartment Therapy for over six months, this was the post that finally got me to register as a commenter. I am just so fed up with the cult of niceness over there; let's see if they delete my extremely restrained comment on this over-styled, soulless, inaccessibly-decorated, antler-stuffed home. It will be an experiment.

Seriously, if that's what her house actually looks like on a day-to-day basis, what the hell does she do with herself there? I am picturing her perching daintily on the edge of one of her armchairs so as not to disturb its perfectly-fluffed pillow, carefully moving a vase out of the way to get at the expertly-coordinated coffee table book underneath, and lazily flipping through it while sipping a goblet of San Pellegrino (not the ones on the shelf in the kitchen, though; those are for display only). Seven hours later, she replaces the book and vase and smooths the chair seat so as not to leave any unsightly wrinkles in the upholstery.

God, Houzz is so much better in every conceivable way. It may be a bit more overwhelming (as websites of that sort do tend to be), but it doesn't worship at the altar of mid-century modern, delete the comments of anyone who neglects to fellate their "celebrity" homeowner interviewees, and generally function as Stuff White People Like minus the self-awareness.
