Christmas!

I just got back to Chicago yesterday - I was lucky enough to spend a whole week with my family in Iowa.  I got to see most of my relatives and went sledding and ate a lot of Mom's homemade candy and cookies.  Luther and I played Elvis songs together (me on flute, him on bass guitar), and Mom and I played Christmas carols now that the piano is in tune for the first time I can remember in my entire life (it belonged to my great-grandma and is very delicate, so they were afraid to have it tuned because the strings might break).

Luther really liked the polyester cantaloupe shirt I got him, and the fancy coffee I got my dad was a good choice.  He has just decided to become a coffee drinker, so my mom got him a coffeemaker and a grinder.  I got Mom this amazing old glass ornament with Little Bo Peep on it (she collects both ornaments and nursery rhyme stuff).

Stuff I got:
Joanna Newsom CD from Luther
8 Sookie Stackhouse books from Mike
Clock made out of bike spokes from Mike
Orange tea from Mike
This book Shelf Discovery from Christy
Tom Waits CD from Christy
Together DVD from Christy
Really cute reusable sandwich bags from Leigh
Music note socks from Leigh
Hilarious 80s band trading cards from Leigh
Handmade blank book with a map of Chicago as the cover from  Marikka

From my parents:
Money towards a new pair of glasses (I've had my current ones for FIVE years)
Farmer John's Cookbook
These plastic things that look like swimming caps that you put over bowls instead of using foil or Saran wrap
Shostakovich 4 CSO Resound CD
A P.G. Wodehouse book
A funny book about life in an orchestra
Fingerless mittens
Chocolate
Licorice
Socks
Vintage pillowcases
Some more long underwear
Licorice tea
This weird calendar that's made up of bookmarks

It was a good Christmas!  The weekend before I was invited to a million holiday parties in Chicago, but just went to two: Zachary's beer party (he brewed his own for the first time) and Mike's turducken party.  Both were a ton of fun.  Turducken is really good, for the record.  Now I'm looking forward to having the rest of the week off to do whatever I want!
