My actual birthday was great. A few of us went to Chickpea, the new middle eastern place across from Dominick's. The best part about that place is the Gypsy pinball machine you can play for free. It's really similar in design to the one my parents have (which is now broken). I will definitely be going back for $4 falafel and free pinball.
Friday Allie made a delicious stew and beer bread and we sat around in her sauna of an apartment and watched This American Life. (Beer bread is delicious, by the way.)
On Saturday Leigh's friend Jason Anderson played a show at Elegant Mr. Gallery in Wicker Park. Prior to the show, he invited everyone to meet for dinner at Veggie Bite, the vegan fast food place across the street. I invited a whole bunch of friends, so here's who came: Tiffany, Andy, Elise, Leander, Wendy, Wendy's friend Andy, and Marikka. Plus Leigh and all the friends I've met through her. It was an amazing show. Jason creates this really inspiring positive atmosphere and encourages (no - forces, really) everyone to participate. His music is all about friendship and love and life and music. Check it out:

Yesterday Leigh, Andy, Elise, Leander, and I went to Jason's friend's home recording studio and sang backing vocals for the album he's recording! We took our instruments with us too just in case, and ended up recording some little instrumental fills for a few songs. That was really fun. Then the whole group of us went to the Chicago Diner, and Andy and I finished the evening with a kind of lame party at his high school friend's apartment. But it was worth it to see photos of Andy, circa 1996, beardless.
And today we have a new president!
