In Conclusion
We were supposed to go out last night to see the Rich Kids (1977 band formed by Glen Matlock after he left the Sex Pistols and featuring Midge Ure, Steve New & Rusty Egan), do a reunion benefit gig for New, who's been fighting cancer, but the roads round here are way too icy to risk driving and we didn't fancy our chances on the trains much either. Bloody weather!
So in lieu of that, I did some round-up statistics & memes. Not quite as exciting, granted, and a bit late. But then, if time isn't linear but is instead a great big ball of wibbly wobbly timey wimey stuff, then concepts such as 'late' have no meaning, right?

1. Your main fandom of the year?
Although my actual fannish activity was minimal, my fannish heart still belongs to Prison Break ::pets my poor dead show::
2. Your favourite film watched this year?
Star Trek reboot/prequel/XI (has there been consensus about what we call it?) I loved it -- I thought it was a clever freshen-up for the franchise, and a fabulously entertaining film with a successfuly broad appeal. Everyone I know, whether rabid fan, casual viewer or complete outsider, thoroughly enjoyed it. The Kirk/Spock was a thing of beauty, although I think Kirk/McCoy probably grabbed me more. Haven't read any fic, but I should probably get on that. I'm sure there's plenty :-)
3. Your favourite book read this year?
The Gargoyle, by Andrew Davidson. Epic cross-genre story that works on all fronts -- historical, romance, fantasy and thriller. Gory and pragmatic realism sits side by side with myth and allegory in an assured, stylish, original, thoughtful and compelling debut.
4. Your favourite album or song to listen to this year?
Hourglass, the second solo album by Depeche Mode singer Dave Gahan. Quietly powerful and a little creepy, this is hypnotic dark electronica. I could (and frequently did) happily play this on repeat all day.
5. Your favourite TV show of the year?
It still has to be Prison Break. S4 was pure crack in so many ways, but I loved it to pieces. Runner up position goes to Torchwood: Children Of Earth, even though it was heart-breaking to watch.
6. Your favorite LJ community of the year?
Um. I wasn't around enough to really have one. Probably the newsletters, if that counts, because it's a good way to catch up on stuff. And smallfandomfest, which is always great fun
7. Your best new fandom discovery of the year?
I don't even know if there is a fandom, but I thought Breaking Bad was an absolutely stonking show. Fantastically written and acted, dark as fuck and with one of the most gorgeously compelling relationships I've seen in a long time. I can thorougly buy and love Walt/Jesse as dysfunctional father/son, but there's also a simmering undercurrent of twisted sexuality to be found if you want to look for it.
8. Your biggest fandom disappointment of the year?
Can I cheat slightly, because it was shown on New Year's Day, and say the resolution (hah!) of Donna's arc in the last DW special? Not what I wanted for her. Not at all. A close second goes to the TOTALLY UNFAIR lack of a Michael/Alex hug in Prison Break. I still feel cheated. Third place goes to Heroes. Nothing specific, just... Heroes, generally.
9. Your TV boyfriend of the year?
My heart is large and has space for many, but Alex Mahone still takes the top spot.
10. Your TV girlfriend of the year?
Olivia Dunham from Fringe. Smart, resourceful, kick-ass and hot. Hmm, do I have an FBI kink?
11. Your biggest squee moment of the year?
That's actually quite tough. Althought there's been a lot to love, it's been more of the dark, intense, shocking and/or heart-breaking variety. Clearly, I need more fluffy fandoms. Oh, I know -- Ruth coming back to Spooks. That was definitely worth a squee :-)
12. The most missed of your old fandoms?
BtVS. The nostalgia never quite goes away. I miss the diversity and range of a large canon & cast, and the activity of a large fandom. I miss that white-hot productivity. And I still, dammit, miss the show. Life On Mars, too, because the US version (although it was kind of sweet in its own bumbling sort of way) made me realise just how damn good that show was.
13. The fandom you haven't tried yet, but want to?
Urr. Possibly Supernatural? I love the show to pieces and adore both Sam/Dean and Dean/Castiel - although I came to it late and wouldn't be entirely sure where to start in a fandom sense. Hasn't everything been done already?
14. Your biggest fan anticipations for the New Year?
The start of Supernatural S5 in the UK. The last season of Lost. And, although I am rather nervous about it, Matt Smith's Eleven.
