Danny was sitting by Amy’s bedside, or more, he was slumped in his chair, his head tilted at an odd angles, completely passed out. It was just about six in the morning when Amy found herself staring up at the ceiling. It took her a moment to comprehend where she was. Her eyes darted around the room for a moment before Danny snorted in his sleep, scaring her out of her wits. Her head snapped toward the sound of him.
“Oh, Danny,” she whispered, her voice sounding think in her ears. She moved her hand up, glancing at the IV stuck in her arm before reaching out and touching Danny’s face she whispered his name again before smacking his cheek lightly. “Danny.”
Danny’s eyes blinked and opened. “Amy?” He muttered breathlessly, leaning closer to her. Amy covered his mouth with her hand quickly, stopping him.
“I’m still mad at you,” she said.
“Be mad at me later, I’m just glad you’re alive,” said Danny, moving her hand away from his mouth and kissing her.
They stayed that way for a moment before someone in the doorway cleared their throats. Danny pulled away from Amy and looked over his shoulder, looking in amusement at Flack, Cazanov and Sofia.
“You two got pinned to our case then?” asked Amy, shifting her head on the pillow and looking in amusement at Cazanov and Sofia.
“Someone has to do your job while you get time off sitting on your ass,” said Cazanov. Amy smiled dreamily.
“You’re just jealous.”
“Fuck yeah, I’m jealous. We’re pulling over time for you.”
“You catch the guy?” asked Danny, looking at Sofia, who nodded.
“Yeah, he’s right down the hall, complaining of a broken leg.”
“He jumped from the building’s roof?” asked Danny. Flack nodded this time.
“And landed in the garbage.”
“Thanks, guys,” said Amy. Sofia nodded and whacked Cazanova and Flack across the shoulders, nodding for them to get out of the room. Danny waved goodbye and turned back to Amy as Sofia shut the door.
“You’re mom’s here, by the way,” said Danny nonchalantly.
“Did she give you a hard time?” asked Amy softly, looking down at her fingernails.
“Yeah, gave your brother a hard time too.”
“Farris is here?” asked Amy sharply.
“Apparently the whole gangs here,” said Danny. “You want me to go get them?”
“And risk this alone time with my favorite screw up?” asked Amy, pulling his arm until he sat down next to her. “Wait an hour.”
