last post of the year.

Damn, do I hate being at the fam's place. I'm always stuck at home, babysitting my brother and now the new dog mum decided to get a few days ago. I planned on going to the beach a few days ago, but found it impossible due to dog worries.

The new dog's name is Silkie, and she is the hyper-est thing on the planet. When awake she darts though the house and chews on hands and jumps on Meg-Meg, my other dog. When she's not doing that, I'm either holding her or she's eating or (thankfully) sleeping.

And wonder of all wonders, she's sleeping right now, which lets me steal a moment and type here.

Today I got to go downtown and watch some play called Lewis and Clark Reach the Euphrates. For the most part I liked it, at least up until the last quarter of the play. Basically the premise was that Lewis and Clark are out on their 'fact-seeking' mission across the Louisiana Purchase when they end up traveling through 4 or so other wars that the US of A got caught up in. Though I did enjoy the random sacks of 'beavers' dropping from the sky, and L/C not noticing their journey foward in time, I didn't quite agree with the playwright's political opinions. (Apparently the play was some critique of current US policy, according to the playbill.)

Afterwards I had some sushi at a nearby sushi bar. Chirashi sushi is not the best, really. It's just sushi fillings on top of rice. I didn't enjoy having to go through all the fillings just to get to the rice. Sigh.

I think it's way past midnight in New York, which technically (to some) means that it's already the New Year. So, happy new year to you all. Hope most people I know have fun at whatever new year's party they're at and that they drive home safe.

As for me, I'll finish my laundry, pack my bags for the flight back to Davis tomorrow, then in an hour or so rouse everyone in a 1-mile radius around my place and cause so much hell that I get noise violations from my policeman / fireman / Air Force-type neighbors. Damn, will that be sweet.
