"The Blindness" starring Julianne Moore

This movie is a surprising one. We got it out on dvd, and at first it seems a boring story about another end of the world epidemic but the movie changes into a adult style 'lord of the flies' type story.
Julianne Moore's character seems very conventional and boring at the start but ends up having a inner strength and inner quality that is amazing to watch as it deepens.
So the story ends up being more about a metaphysical analogy that works quite well.
There is one bit of the film I totally abhor and it comes down to the assumption that at base level women will trade sex for food. Sure, in reality some do and if they had to others would.
but it's the sexism in it that annoys me. Not all women will trade sex for food, and its wrong for men even to think that all women would, should or could.
It is a good film that makes one think and wants things to change and this film does it.
