"Some people feel the rain while others just get wet" - Bob Marley
Louis sighed and buried his head in his pillow. Tomorrow was they day of his surgery and as much as he wanted it, he was nervous. He was glad that he was finally gonna be able to see the world around him. Though, not seeing gave him a whole different aspect of everything. What was unseen by others was seen by him. Being blind meant he had to pay close attention to people and now he could read people by what they said and/or how they acted. So Louis, being blind and all, devoted his life to hearing instead of seeing.
But he wanted to see things. He wanted to see how people looked when they smiled, when they laughed, when thy cried. He wanted to see the beautiful colors of people's eyes. He wanted to see the ocean and the rain. Oh, how badly he wanted to see the rain. He never felt gloomy when it rained. The rain gave Louis assurance and calmness. He thought the rain was unloved by so many people and not enough noticed the beauty of just hearing the rain hitting their windowsill. But he did, he loved the rain. He felt the beauty with his fingertips, and sometimes, on nice rainy days, he would run outside with Harry and dance in the rain.
He was happy that Harry was involved in this too. He wouldn't know what to do without Harry. Being blind wasn't easy. He was constantly running into things and falling over, but Harry was always there to catch him. Harry made things so much easier and enjoyable. When Louis felt like he was living in complete darkness, Harry pulled him back to the light. Even though Louis was literally living in complete darkness, none of that mattered to Harry. Harry loved Louis just the way he was, and Louis was grateful for that. Harry didn't treat Louis any different because he was blind and Louis was also grateful for that.
Sighing again, he rolled of the bed. He gathered all his strength and planted his feet on the floor. He had memorized every detail of the flat so he wouldn't need to touch everything all the time. Suddenly, "Ugh!" Louis came crashing into something. An arm around his waist kept him for falling.
"Ha, sorry Lou, didn't see you there."
Louis chuckled nervously, "It's fine, it's not your fault."
Harry frowned, or at least Louis guessed he did, "What's wrong?"
Louis struggled to find the right words, "I-I don't know. I'm scared. I want this but I'm scared."
"It'll be fine Lou, relax," Louis could hear the reassuring smile in his voice. "You should rest! Tomorrow is a big day!"
He scoffed, "Yeah, a day that I'm afraid of."
"But it's exciting right? After your surgery, we'll do anything you like."
"Yeah, I guess it is exciting. Thanks Haz." Louis seriously wouldn't know what to do without Harry. Even though he loved Harry, it was weird because some people thought there was more than just friendship. There wasn't, so he and Harry simply laughed at this.
"No problem. Now go to bed!"
Louis laughed and said, "Yes sir!"
Crawling back on his bed, he pulled the covers up to his chin. He couldn't help but worry about tomorrow, though. What if something went wrong? He shook his head and tried to ignore all negative thoughts.
It wasn't long until sleep took him away to dreamland.

"Louis, Lou, wake up," Harry lightly shakes Louis awake.
"Hmm? What?" He rubs his sleepy eyes.
"Today is the day! Get up!" Harry jumps on the bed with excitement.
"Huh? WHAT? Today is the day? Oh my god, today is the day!" He sits up on the bed.
Harry chuckles, "Yes! Today is the day! Get ready! We have to be at the hospital at 10:00am. I've already gotten your clothes and towel ready in the bathroom."
Louis smiles and climbs off the bed. "Thanks Haz."

Louis slowly put the clothes on. Since he was gonna be in a hospital bed and was gonna take the clothes off anyway, he didn't need anything fancy or tight. A simple shirt and jeans will do.
A knock at the door startles Louis. "Boobear, are you done?" Harry's voice travels through the inch-thick wood.
"Uh, yeah," he walks to the door, biting his nails.
"You ready to leave?"
"I-uh yes." Harry could hear the nervousness in Louis' voice.
"It'll be fine, Lou," he reaches out and holds Louis' hand.

Louis takes a deep breath, trying to calm himself down. Harry's beside him, playing with the hospital bed's sheets.
"I'm scared Haz," Louis whispers.
"It's okay to be scared. I mean, you have been blind your whole life and suddenly seeing is going to be scary, but it'll be exciting. Think about the positive side. You'll be able to see everything that you can't," Harry says and squeezes Louis' hand.
'Harry's right. I should be positive,' Louis thought. He thinks about the moment he'll wake up and have eyes that actually work. He thinks about the moment that he'll see Harry's eyes; he's always heard that they were a beautiful green, but not that he knows what the colour looks like. Louis smiles and squeezes Harry's hand back, "Thank you, Haz, for always sticking with me. I know it's hard sometimes, so thank you."
"You don't have to thank me, Lou. I like sticking with you."
Louis hears the doctor and his assistants walk in and he's nervous again. Harry senses this and runs his thumb along Louis' knuckles to calm him down.
"Hi, Mr. Tomlinson. Are you ready?" the doctor, Mr. Rane, asks.
"Yes," Louis says, barely audible.
"Good. Sorry Harry, but I'm gonna have to ask you to leave for the operation."
Harry nods and gives Louis' hand one more squeeze before retreating his hand. "Good luck. I'll be here in the morning." He exits the room and smiles. 'Louis' finally getting his vision. He'll love it'
