Always a day late and a dollar short - A true story.

First of all, before I forget and it's June or something.

Happy New Year
&
best wishes for
2010!

I went to London to see in the new year. It was the first time I'd had the opportunity to go to the capital for New Years and I was so excited. Nik and I went down to stay with her sister and her fiance who live in Wood Green. We met up with a big bunch of their friends and then after a few drinks headed into the big city to see the fireworks and hear Big Ben...

Yeah, didn't happen. We found a lovely pub that was free to get in - a rarity on New Years Eve - that was right on the River Thames. It was truly an awesome spot to watch all the celebrations. At least it would have been if we hadn't been around a bend in the flipping river. There we were standing on these benches, cheering and singing, freezing our arses off, and we saw NOTHING! *lol* Actually, that's not strictly true, we saw the clouds lighting up above us but because of exactly where we were the tall buildings behind us blocked everything else from view.

It was still a brilliant night and it started snowing at midnight just for a few minutes which for me was just as special as seeing the fireworks would have been. I'm glad I went, but I keep seeing these photos in the paper of this spectacular display and I can't believe I was five minutes away and missed it all *face/palm*.

Oh-kay, doe-kay, it's that time again. The time when I realise I've only left myself three days to complete my next OU assignment. It's due in Monday. It's not too daunting - a complete short story of my choice with a word count of 2100 words. It's not undoable, but I do suck at keeping fics under 10000 words, actually I suck at keeping them under 50000 words.

Plus I've fallen behind the group by about a month which I have no excuse for except that there was a couple of weeks I couldn't log in to the forums and I got out of the habit of going there every day. So while I've still been doing the exercise (mostly) I've not shared anything for a while and I have no idea what stage everyone else in the class is up to now. It's one of my resolutions to start checking in every day again, if only for ten minutes, and reading the others' work but that doesn't help me right now. Still, neither is sitting her worrying about it; which ties in with another of my resolutions :)

ou, special days, social, everyday bizarre
