Brokeback mountain has gay cowboys in it!

I just watched Brokeback Mountain for the first time and...

I loved it. I was told by several people when it first came out that it wasn't worth the 2 and a half hours it takes to watch it, so I went in not expecting much, but 2 and a half hours later, I'm not regretting anything. Except watching it on the TV downstairs, because the widescreeniness is cool for watching films, but one of the speakers is a little crap and if the volume is too loud it makes a nasty buzzing sound during the dialogue, and seeing as, apparently, cowboys mutter, we had to have the volume up quite loud.

Why do Cowboys mutter anyway? Is it because they only speak out of the sides of their mouths. 'Cause Alma (Michelle Williams rocks!) and the other chicks seemed to be talking fine and I could hear every word, but as soon as Jack and Ennis started mumbling to each other up went the volume.  Was it a whole "We can't speak our love out loud so we have to mumble" deal, or is it because cowboys usually have a cigarette sticking out of their mouths, and so by only opening them (their mouths) a fraction, the ciggie doesn't fall out?

Look at me, always asking the big questions.

An even bigger question occurs to me: How did an exploding tyre cause the wheel rim to smack him in the nose? Was the car not jacked up properly? Ennis's flashback makes me think that maybe Jack gave the eye to the wrong cowboy someplace. A quiet back road would be a good place to jump someone and give them a good bashing.

Poor Jack - I'm gonna miss his little 'tash. And what happened to his wife? One minute she was fit as, and the next she looks all washed out with painfully bright blonde hair. I think my favourite scene was the one where Jack put his father-in-law in place at Thanksgiving and told him to sit his arrogant ass down - That was a long time coming, and the father-in-laws meek expression after and Jack's wife's (Maureen or Lareen?) little smile cracked me up.

And Ennis was a terrible husband, and not just because he was obviously fantasizing about Jack when he was screwing Alma, but he was a good daddy - I liked his relationship with Alma Junior, especially the scene right at the end where she tells him she's getting married - awesome. I think he had some good kids there, and they'd have understood if he'd decided to make a life with Jack - that should have been all he cared about.

Oh, and there was cowboy sex too!!!
