Aaaaand once again, I come back to LJ after a little break for RL stuff, and find
explosive-wielding velociraptors, to quote (via metaquotes). Apparently, they've made it easy to link up LJ, Facebook, and Twitter. (Look, it was always theoretically possible -- a link is just a series of characters, nothing stops anyone from typing them, but now it's just a careless click away.) As usual when coming across new stuff from LJ these days, I am Not Pleased.
(For an explanation of what's going on in simple terms with useful examples, I recommend
turtlesdontfly 's post
here.)
http://turtlesdontfly.livejournal.com/84218.html I like my LJ. It's a writing journal. There are a handful of people in RL who know it exists, and possibly two who read my writing, but for the most part I'm known only as Fluffy_Goddess, and the only e-mail associated with LJ is an old one I keep around exclusively for LJ and the occasional mailing list. I also exist on Facebook, albeit in a very limited form. Different name, different e-mail, not much content, and oh god I hope I'm safe, because I do not want to deal with having to explain why I would be writing the kinds of fic I post to, say, anyone.
Needless to say, new rule: anyone who connects my journal to my real life identity? We have a problem. So don't.
I've got some fics to type up while I watch the action and hopefully find a way to opt out of this. If I decide to clean out this account and start fresh someplace like Dreamwidth, I'll let y'all know. I'd miss the writing communities that are so well established here, but the ability to keep my various identities separate is a much bigger priority for me. And unfortunately, the internet is forever, so I'm not waiting around forever for something to go wrong.
