The Hard and Fast Rules

The Hard and Fast Rules of this Journal

I feel an urge to rewrite this.

The fiction here is currently all my own work (and if I change that, I will edit this), though it varies in style and form. Some is horror, some is romance, a lot is smutty, and every once in a while I attempt humour. There's also... well, not a lot, but a fair amount, so I try to keep it organized. To that end:

Use the tags. The tags are there to be used. They want to be used. They sit there, crying out for someone to click them. They are an excellent way of finding stuff similar to what you've already read.

Also, use the masterlists. They are linked in the sidebar, they're linked in the sticky post at the top of my journal, and they're kept pretty much up to date. They sometimes include links to fic I've posted in communities instead of to this journal, though I prefer to put stuff up here. There are two of them: Fanfiction and Original Fiction. Which, conveniently, are the two categories my work falls into.

And finally, some hints: if I've got a story that's posted in multiple parts, it will be posted in order. If I've forgotten to post a link to the next part, just click the little arrow sending you to my next entry; that should be it. If I've got warnings posted, read and heed them. If you don't like something you've read, click away: there's a great wide internet out there, and plenty more fics around if these aren't to your taste.

That said, I love feedback. It helps shape my mood, keeps interesting characters in my head, and generally inclines me to write more. If you like something, say so. If you dislike something, feel free to say that too, so long as you are polite and calm about it. Flames will be mocked or deleted. Constructive criticism will get serious attention, and I'm always interested in becoming a better writer. I may decide I disagree with it, but I will consider it.

Some of the fic posted here is old. (Seriously: I've been writing since I was in highschool. On and off, but it means there's a build up of old stuff, some good and some bad.) A lot of it is new. I write for challenges, bingos, prompt communities, and myself.

And finally, the caveat: I love writing, and I love the communities fostered by online writing and posting. This journal is a happy place for me to be. It is also a place I control. I've set out some guidelines here, but they could really be summed up very quickly: play nicely, and I will do the same.
