Reflection
One simple act of kindness can be a blessing to many.
What was the most memorable part of the community visit? It will be when we first saw the kids because even though they still did not meet us, they greeted us with smiles and laughter. They were so warm! They even drew us a picture on their board.
Our fieldwork last week helped me realize that I can be of help to other people. Even if I am still a student, I could help the less fortunate people just by being there with them, imparting some knowledge, having fun, and eating with them. Community building is what all of us need because there is no community if there is no UNITY. We all must be one in helping each other make our lives better as a person, and to make other people’s lives more comfortable. Even if what we did in the fieldwork was just simple, I know that it was a major happening in the lives of the children we talked, and spent time with. It brought out the Thomasian in me.
The project, as simple as it is, may help the partner community fight against underweight/malnourished children. The children were taught how to eat properly, what foods to eat, and how to take care of themselves. We also imparted some of our knowledge by showing them what we know. They also taught us how to have fun. The project helps the children be physically and mentally fit.
