My Short Story.

Dec 23, 2010 01:10

well...I'm very disappointed with this...
It's actually weird.
Not like I wanted *sigh*
But that's life...

“Elizabeth, you look wonderful tonight.” The masked man told me. “You shine brighter than those stars up in the heavens.” I felt my cheeks inflame.

“Y-you’re just saying that right? You’re just saying all those things because we are forced to marry each other against our will.” I don’t believe him. It’s impossible for him to love me since this is the first time we have met.

“I speak the truth my little flower. I have been captivated by your eyes, your lips, your smile, and your laugh. I have known you for a very long time, and I thank the heavens for giving me the chance to be in your presence this enchanting night.” He looked at me with those mesmerizing eyes that make my heart beat faster.

“Who are you?” I asked curiously.

“I am your Romeo.” He said while staring at me through the mask.

He leaned forward; his face nearing mine. I can feel his breath on my face. I closed my eyes, our lips just millimeters away.

Riiiiing!

Oh man! Why does my alarm clock ring at the best part? I had this dream for quite some time now, and I really wonder if that will really happen to me.

Hi! I’m just your average teenage girl with a very comfortable life. I live with my family which consists of my mother, father, and an elder sister. We are so close to each other that others would ask us if we are cousins or just a group of friends. We just smiled and nod before bursting out laughing.

Today is a very wonderful morning for me because it is the first day back to school. You must think that I am a nerd or a geek for saying that, but I am definitely not! I just love school especially because my friends are there, my classmates are so nice to be with, and the teachers are the best!

“Eri! Come down and eat your breakfast!” my mom called.

“Coming mom!” I replied. I fixed my hair and looked at my reflection before going down to eat; since I’m finished taking a bath.

“Mom, is Jennifer here already?” I asked my mom before eating my breakfast.

She turned to me and said “Not yet sweetie. Maybe she woke up late?”

“Thanks mom!” I chirped. My mom just smiled.

My mom is the prettiest woman I have ever met. She has this long silky brunette hair that many girls would love to have. Her eyes are in a lovely color of hazel, and in the shape of almonds. Her nose is just perfect, and she has full plump lips. Her face is heart shaped that makes her look younger than she actually is. She has a nice figure, not to thin and not to fat, just right. They say I look like her, except for my hair and nose which I inherited from my father.

“Mom, where’s dad and sis anyway?” I asked while scanning the room.

“Oh! They went already. Your father has a very early business meeting today, and your sister has morning practice for their basketball competition.” My mom answered.

The doorbell rang, so that means my best friend is already here.

“Eri! Open up! I wanna eat your mom’s cooking. Eri!” my best friend Jennifer kept shouting and banging the front door.

“I’ll go get it so you just stay there and eat your breakfast.” My mom told me. I did what she told me, so I was munching on the delicious griddle cakes my mom made when something, or rather someone attacked me from behind.

“Eri, I missed you so much!” my attacker exclaimed in my ear. She then proceeded to hug me like a Boa Constrictor would to its prey. I felt myself turning purple from the lack of air, but fortunately my mom gave Jennifer griddle cakes that are currently disappearing into her bottomless pit called stomach.

I thanked my mom as I finished my breakfast. “Jen, come on! We’re gonna be late, and besides don’t you eat at your house?”

“I dvhoo, vhut yhour mhum’s chuuking ish dje besh!” I rolled my eyes at her childish way of eating. Luckily, I understood Jennifer’s language, and for everyone’s sake she said ‘I do, but your mom’s cooking is the best!’

She got her things and walked with me to school. Our school is St. Baptise; one of the best schools in Carloman City. It is where I studied since pre-school, so you can say that I pretty much grew up there.

“Eri! Eri! Look! It’s Matt!” Jennifer shrieked, and then sighed dreamily.

I don’t get it why people like that guy! He may be the hottest guy on campus, but he is also the cockiest guy in the whole wide world. I just can’t stand him! Speak of the devil incarnate.

“Hey Princess,” the monster smirked at me. Did I ever tell you how much I hate his smirk? Well…have you ever had a bad hair day?

“Who are you calling princess you midget?” I fought back.

“Who else here acts like a princess but you? And for your information, I am not a midget!” He said that last bit through gritted teeth.

“Right! You are not a midget.” I started.

“Thank yo-”

“You’re a dwarf!” I cut him off.

He is seriously fuming right now. All that is lacking is the smoke that will come out of his ears. His best friend Nate is trying very hard not to laugh, but failed.

“Listen princess. No one makes fun of the Sexiest Man in the World!” Matt threatened me while doing some weird pose.

“Yes your Mighty Sexiness.” I mocked bowed at him and dragged the shocked Jennifer towards the building.

“Eri. Eri! ELIZABETH CELESTE UEDA!” Jennifer yelled. This got me out of my daze, and I noticed that I am still clutching her wrist, so I immediately let go of it.

“Thank you for letting my hand receive some oxidized blood.” Jen rolled her eyes and started to walk to our first class.

“What was that about anyway?” I heard her say.

“What?” I asked her quizzically.

“You know the one with Matt?” Oh, that.

“Well?” She asked impatiently.

“That was nothing.” I answered truthfully. “Think of it as a sort of welcoming the first day back from summer vacation. And honestly, when do we not fight anyway?” I reasoned out after seeing her raised eyebrow.

“If you put it that way, hmmm…never! You always fight even over the simplest things.” Jen stated with shock evident in her dark eyes.

“You don’t have to be so surprised Jen. This has been going on since the second grade. This has become second nature to me.” I stated, and reassured her with a smile.

The bell rang signaling that it’s homeroom period already. I sat near the window which was overlooking the garden we have here in campus. I looked around and noticed that there weren’t any new students this year. Everyone settled down when our homeroom teacher came in.

Time passes by so fast, and now it’s dismissal already. I went to my locker, which is, thankfully, right beside Jen’s.

“Are you going to tonight’s party?” Jen asked.

“What party?” Did I forget something important?

“Are you sure you’re the first honor? Don’t tell me you forgot our fathers’ reunion?” She exclaimed with her eyes and mouth opened wide.

Oh! That party. “Yup! I’m going.” I smiled at her.

She sighed in relief. “I don’t know what I’ll do if you’re not going. What are you gonna wear?”

“Hmmm… Your dad said that it will be a costume party right?” Why does it have to be a costume party? That’s for kids, oh right! Jen’s father is childish at times.

“Yeah, I’m gonna be Cinderella!” She did a pose and a peace sign that made me laugh out loud.

“I think I’ll be Juliet. You know the one in Shakespeare.” I thought that doing Juliet is pretty easy because I just love Romeo and Juliet.

“Ooooh! I wonder if someone’s gonna be Romeo, then the two of you will be perfect for each other.” She squealed happily at her thought.

“You are so like your father Jen.” I told her. She just pouted at that.

It was already time for the party, so my mom and sister are doing their last minute checking.

“Elise dear, have you seen my purse?” My mom asked my sister.

“I think it’s on the kitchen counter.” My sister answered without looking at our mother because she was busy putting on some eyeliner.

So, I’m wearing my Juliet costume, my sister is going to be Snow White and my mom Little Red Riding Hood. My father went to the hotel, where the party is going to be held, beforehand, so I don’t really know what he dressed up, but I’m sure he is gonna be handsome.

We arrived at the hotel about half an hour later. When we walked in my jaw dropped. You will never guess that this place is a hotel. There is a castle, a forest, and other things you usually see or read in stories.

I looked around to find my father, and when I did find him I felt that I was hit by something. Saying that my father is good-looking will be an understatement. He is breathtakingly stunning. He is dressed up as a king, complete with a crown on top of his head.

As I went nearer, I noticed that my dad was with his best friends from Japan. Jennifer’s father, Uncle Jin, is also dressed up as a king, Matt’s father, Uncle Ryo, as a prince, and Uncle Yamashita, Nate’s father, as a samurai.

“Eri, I’m so glad you’re finally here.” I spun around and saw Jen walking towards me with her glass slippers.

“Hi to you too Cinderella, did you ride your pumpkin carriage?” I joked.

“Very funny Juliet, have you found your Romeo yet?” she joked back. We looked at each other before bursting into fits of laughter.

I walked around the room after Jen and I finished chatting. As I was strolling around, I ended up at a balcony. I chuckled to myself at the coincidence of me being here at a balcony as Juliet.

“O Romeo, Romeo! Wherefore art thou Romeo?” I asked no one in particular.

“I’m right here Juliet.” I turned around suddenly, and saw ‘Romeo.’

“Who are you?” I asked.

“I’m your Romeo as you are my Juliet.” What kind of answer is that?

“May I have this dance?” he bowed and offered his hand.

I accepted the offer, and he escorted me to the dance floor. He held me close and we danced to the slow song. I relaxed at his arms, and I laid my head on his shoulder.

“My, my, I never knew you could be affectionate princess.” I snapped my head up and gasped.

“Matt.” I said under my breath.

“Bingo princess.” I saw his smirk and the twinkle in his eyes.

“Why did you ask me to dance with you if you knew who I am? I thought you hated me?” His eyes lost their twinkle as I said the last part.

“I never hated you.” He said softly, tightening his arms around my waist. “I never did.”

“If you never hated me, then why do you always make fun of me?” I’m really confused.

“Will you believe me if I tell you that everything you thought of me are wrong?” he looked into my eyes, and I saw something that I have never seen in his eyes before.

“What do you mean?” my heart is pounding hard in my chest.

“Elizabeth Celeste Ueda, I want to tell you th-”

“Everyone please gather around. We have some important things to announce.” Matt was interrupted by the emcee.

“May I ask Elizabeth Ueda, Matt Nishikido, Jennifer Akanishi, and Nate Tomohisa to come up the stage please?”

The four of us went up the stairs, and I immediately asked Jen if she knew what was happening. Unfortunately, neither of us knows what really is happening.

“And now, may I ask the fathers of these four teens to come up the stage.”

Our fathers went up the stage and stood beside the emcee.

“Most of you may be confused as to why these eight people are on stage.” The emcee really loves to dawdle. Just hurry up and tell us why we are here, I screamed in my mind.

“The fathers have a very important announcement to make.” The emcee gave the microphone to Matt’s father.

“The four of us decided that these four teens will be living under the same roof as of tonight.”

“WHAT?!” the four of us shouted in unison.

“But dad, why do we have to live together? I can’t live in a house if there is a princess living there.” I don’t know why, but Matt’s words hurt. I thought he changed already, but I guess he was just messing with me.

“Oh yeah? Who said I want to live with you anyway?” I barked at Matt.

“You need to live together because we have noticed that the four of you, especially Eri and Matt, are on each other’s throats always.” My dad explained.

“And as the four of us are the best of friends, we want our kids to be the best of friends also.” Jen’s father added.

“Oh! And your things are already in the apartment we got for the four of you.” Nate’s father informed us.

We all groaned together because of this news. Because they are our fathers, we cannot do anything except to obey.

After the party, the four of us were brought to the apartment where we will stay until our fathers are satisfied. The apartment is very nice; it has four bedrooms and bathrooms, a kitchen, a big living room, and a balcony.
We looked for our respective rooms because it was already decided which room we will stay in. To my uttermost disappointment, my room was right beside Matt’s, the person I have been ignoring since the announcement.
I went to the balcony to have some fresh air. I sat down on the chair and gazed at the stars. I did not notice I fell asleep until I felt something being wrapped around me.
“You should not sleep here outside if you don’t want to catch a cold.” I opened my eyes and saw Matt staring at the stars.
“Why do you care?” I said bitterly. “As far as I remember you said you don’t want to be with me, so why are you here?”
“Remember what I told you when we danced?” he asked me.
“Oh yes. I clearly remember all the lies you told me.” I am still hurting from those lies. “I can’t believe that I am such a fool for believing you.”
“Those were not lies, please believe me. I don’t know what came over me when I said that I don’t want to be with you. I’m so sorry.” I can sense that he is telling me the truth, but I can’t trust him too easily.
“I want to believe in you, but it hurts. I don’t know why but it hurts me when I know that you are lying to me, so please don’t say anything that you don’t mean.” I held back the tears that are forming in my eyes.
“Look at me in the eyes please.” he lifted my chin up so that we were eye to eye. “All of the things I told you that night were from the bottom of my heart. And I was about to tell you how much I love you, but I really wanted to smack that emcee for interrupting.” I chuckled at the last part.
I looked deep in his eyes and I saw the truth in them. Matt really does love me! I wrapped my arms around his neck and I let my tears fall freely.
“Eri, don’t cry. I want you to know that I have been captivated by your eyes, your lips, your smile, and your laugh ever since I first saw you. When I saw you there at the balcony in the party, it was like I saw a beautiful fairy calling out to me.” He said.
“Matt, do you think it is fate that said we should be together?” I asked him.
Instead of an answer, he smiled at me and embraced me tight. We both looked at the sky and saw something magical. We felt that fate presented us an aurora to congratulate us for being together.
“Matt,” he looked at me. “I love you.” There I finally said it.
He smiled widely and said, “I love you too Eri.” He lifted my chin up, and I thought I heard fairies singing as his lips touched mine.

Weird right? :DD
