There was a guy in scuba gear playing in a puddle in the parking lot next to the house. I didn't personally witness the incident, but was assured it was a hoot.
Has anyone ever played Balderdash? It's a great game. There is a whole box of cards with obscure words on them. For instance: ing. Yes, I-N-G. It's a word. I believe the definition is "a spot of lowland meadow". One person reads the correct definition from the card and writes it down. Everyone else makes up their own definitions and submits them. Then the reader reads all of the definitions and the players have to determine which definition is correct. If you guess correctly you receive points. And if people choose your fabricated definition you also receive points. Lots of fun to play.
Alright, academic update. I withdrew from England to 1688. The textbook was horribly boring. Ever tried to read primary sources about the Angles and Saxons from the 6th century? And it was graded like a high school class.
Intro to Medieval Literature is probably the worst English class I could have taken. So boring. I haven't read any of the assignments yet. I did look at cliff notes and other such study aids for the mid-term. I get that back on Tuesday. I'm hoping for a C. I have to write an essay for Friday and I have no idea what to write it about.
Early Modern European Philosophy. I think I did okay on the mid-term, I get it back on Tuesday also. It's a pretty boring class. We're starting Locke next week so I'm hoping that will be more interesting than Descartes and Spinoza. I'm hoping for a C or above.
Authority and Democracy is my favorite class. It's pretty much an in-depth history of Germany. I got an A on the mid-term. I should be able to get an A on the final too, so that will make up for my other poor grades hopefully. I like the professor, I'm planning to take another history class with him next semester.
Classes for next semester look a lot better. American Writers II focuses on the 20th century writers in America; that should be good. I'm also going to take a class about Short Stories, a history class focusing on 20th century Europe, and a Geography class (I haven't decided on a specific one yet).
Other than that things have been really good. Just hanging out all the time watching movies or playing games.
