Taking the stage first, Cadie had given his CD to the sound guy and didn't need the piano. Grinning, he took the mic and tried to hide the mischievous twinkle in his eyes from Kurt.
A moment later the music began and he opened his mouth to 'sing'.
It didn't take him very long though before he stopped and began to laugh, amused. Shaking his head, he signed, *I'm Cadie, Kurt, can you translate?* He knew Kurt could see what he was saying.
Kurt was almost unable to contain his mirth. He raised his hand to his chest. *Such a Ham* He giggled and finally sopke up. "I'll translate. I'm Cadie." Kurt did his very best 'Cadie' voice.
*I couldn't help the joke. I am the ultimate lip-syncher though. Ask Kurt,* he explained, going to get his electric cello from the other side of the piano and handing Brad some sheet music. *I play cello, guitar and bass, violin and piano. I just don't sing.*
With that, he took a seat and began to play, this time performing much more seriously.
Kurt translated diligently. He knew how important it was for the words to be Cadie's and not his. None of his usual 'unique' turn of phrase colored the comments. He sat back down, basking in the beautiful cello. Really Cadie was enthralling.
Cadie nodded, agreeing with what Kurt said. Kurt translated for him faithfully, but sometimes he liked to interject his own personality into it and that always annoyed Cadie. This wasn't Kurt. This was him. Kurt was a lot better about it now though compared to when they were younger.
Taking his cello and standing once he had finished, he left the stage for the next person.
Mercedes watched the conversation between Cadie and Kurt with interest, she didn't know he knew sign language! She found herself quite enthralled by the music. She wasn't sure if he'd be in Glee Club, but he should definitely be in the band. Once he finished she gave him a round of hearty applause. She wasn't sure if clapping was allowed, but he was good!
Tina recognized Cadie from Orchestra, so she knew before he started that he was going to knock it out of the park. She wasn't sure exactly how a Cello player would fit into Glee club but she loved listening to him play and she clapped enthusiastically when he finished.
Rachel diligently took notes regarding Cadie's performance. She was impressed by his skill and that he had chosen a modern, well-known hit, but she would have appreciated something that would show off a little more of his capabilities on the string instrument. Not that she wasn't impressed, it was obvious Cadie had talent, but Rachel wasn't going to allow him a sympathy vote. Real life didn't work that way.
She applauded at the conclusion of his audition. Her praise was well-deserved on his part. She made a final note on her clipboard, thanked Cadie and called for the next person.
